HALLOWEEN. It’s celebrated each year on October 31. We don’t get a holiday for it here but it’s still extravagant in some ways. What I like most about Halloween is playing dress-up.
This year, as many of us hoard toilet paper to battle the pandemic (which by the way still baffles me, why?) I’m sure we have enough to wrap us or our little ones as cute little ancient Mummies.
Besides playing dress-up, the next best thing about Halloween is making Halloween treats. These spooky treats are best made together with our children so they get to witness the interesting transformation of basic ingredients into something FUN where imagination is our limit.
I’m going to share a super simple Halloween Mummy Sandwich recipe that you can make together with your little ones.
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Assemble time: 5 minutes
Serving size: As needed
INGREDIENTS FOR THIS SUPER SIMPLE MUMMY SANDWICH
- Slices of your favourite sandwich bread
- Slices of cheese
- Ketchup
- Raisins
HOW TO MAKE MUMMY SANDWICH?
- Spread ketchup on the surface of one side of the sandwich bread.
- Slice cheese into thin strips. You don’t need a sharp knife for this. A butter knife works just fine.
- Lay strips of cheese on the bread leaving some space for the eyes.
- Place raisins as the eyes.
- Toast the Mummy sandwich in a preheated oven for a minute or two just to slightly melt the cheese.
- Serve.
I had so much fun making this Mummy Sandwich with my boy. The only problem I had was he keeps eating everything that was laid in front of him before he can even assemble his sandwich!
Despite the current situation, let’s amp it up (at home) with fun recipes that you can do with your children. Trust me, you will love it even more!
