“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires”. Sounds familiar, isn’t it? This famous quote is from William Arthur Ward. Little did we realize that teachers are some of the most unsung heroes we often overlooked. Aside from our parents, a teacher also helps in our personality and growth development, which impact our lives significantly.
To appreciate and celebrate the wonderful teachers in Malaysia, Anugerah Guru Inspirasi (AGI) by McDonald’s Malaysia is back for its fourth year! As a part of the #McDSayangCikgu program, the nomination submissions for AGI is now open until 30th of March 2020.
What’s more special for this year is, for the time first, nominations can be submitted in either English, Malay or Chinese.
Anugerah Guru Inspirasi will award 25 selected teachers with the most inspiring stories with RM5,000 cash, a trophy, a sash, and a certificate of recognition, which will be presented to them in conjunction with Teacher’s Day during a ceremony at respective schools.
The successful nominees are also entitled to receive a RM200 McDonald’s Vouchers as a token of appreciation.

“Anugerah Guru Inspirasi as part of #McDSayangCikgu is all about appreciating, celebrating, and recognizing the efforts of our teachers. McDonald’s believes that teachers are instrumental not just for the academic growth of children but for their personal growth as well. A teacher who has a positive influence on a student can set off a chain reaction that goes far beyond the classroom. McDonald’s Malaysia is committed to making sure teachers know they are appreciated and hope to inspire more people to find small ways to make a big difference,” said McDonald’s Malaysia Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Melati Abdul Hai.
Melati added, “On top of this, McDonald’s has been sharing our appreciation for teachers through giving away free meals on Teacher’s Day, organizing annual motivational seminars to equip them with new skills and host Teachers’ Day parties at our outlets. We call on students, parents, families and teaching fraternities to take the time to share about their teachers who are truly inspirational.”
