In conjunction with its 70th anniversary celebration this year, Assunta Hospital launched its Obstetrics and Gyneacology Centre, thus signifying the hospital’s commitment to providing comprehensive women’s health services and wellness.
The Obstetrics and Gyneacology Centre, local on Level 4 is the hospital’s dedication to becoming a one-stop destination for the wellbeing of women.
It aims to support women who are striving both at home and the workplace.
The Centre ensures a semless and integrated experience, offering parking facilities and easy access to the specialists.
Upon arrival, the process is designed to be hassle-free.
Patients can conveniently register, consult with their specialists, and easily collect prescribed medications from the pharmacy – all on the same floor.
This arrangement aims to enhance the convenience and comfort for their patients.
The Centre was officiated by Selangor Public Health and Environment State Exco Y.B. Jamaliah Jamaluddin.
At the launch, Assunta Hospital CEO Wilson Choo in his speech stated the commitment to the care of patients stems from the humble beginnings of the hospital which can be traced back to a clinic called Ave Maria in Section 1, Road 4, Petaling Jaya.
“Here, the medical needs of the underprivileged were compassionately attended by four sisters from Franciscan Missionaries of Mary (FMM). Over the years, the hospital has experienced remarkable growth, evolving from a modest clinic into a leading healthcare institution, all thanks to the generous support of individuals committed to the vision of accessible and quality health care for all,” he said.
He added that investment in modern technology was vital for diagnoses.
“These advancements, including the state-of-the-art 5D ultrasound machines, available at Obstetrics and Gynaecology Centre, shows our commitment in providing the highest standard of care, while ensuring accurate diagnostics and monitoring for expectant mothers and gynaecological patients.
“We’ve invested in the 3 Tesla MRI, and 640-Slice CT Scan, which allows our specialists with enhanced clarity. We’ve also bought the OPERA Swing, a radiographic fluoroscopic system that offers a comprehensive solution that combines digital radiography and fluoroscopy for efficient examinations.
“With advanced features, this machine allows a smoother process and greater experience for patients. “The OPERA Swing features allows us to take crystal-clear pictures while using less radiation – and required time,” he added.
Mr. Choo continued: “Our dedication is deeply rooted in ensuring that each patient receives not only medical services but also a compassionate, multi-disciplinary, and patient-centric care.
We believe in supporting individuals in effectively managing both their family and professional life, thus fostering a balance harmonious balance.”
He also reflected on the hospital’s legacy, especially with the trust and support of the community that has been placed for the past 70 years.
“Our legacy reflects the connection that Assunta Hospital created with the people of Klang Valley. This can be traced to our roots back to 1954 when the FMM established this institution with primary mission – to aid the most underserved communities.
The Assunta entity encompasses not on the hospital, but also the Tun Tan Cheng Lock College of Nursing and the Assunta Integrated Social Services, or ASSISS, our hospital charitable arm.
“As a not-for-profit institution, we uphold the principles of social entrepreneurship, ensuring our healthcare services is made affordable to all our patients.
Half of our hospital’s profits are reinvested into expanding our facilities and acquiring advanced equipments and technology. This is to ensure that we continuously provide the quality and excellence to our patients.
“The remaining 50 percent of the hospital’s profit is channelled to ASSISS to provide medical care to the underprivileged from economically disadvantaged backgrounds,” he added.
Present at the launch was Assunta Hospital’s board of director Sr. Anna Wong, FMM and the Centre’s Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Dr. Kuharaj Balasubaramian at a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Y.B. Jamaliah was also shown a 5D ultrasound of a baby and had taken a tour of the facility, all available at the same place on Level Four of the Centre.
Assunta Hospital remains steadfast in its dedication to the health and wellbeing of the community. This is a continuation in its ability to provide a comprehensive healthcare service and raising awareness on essential health issues.
