HOMESOY remains committed to raising breast cancer awareness and supporting early detection through the third year of its ‘Stop That Dot Together’ campaign.
Moving beyond awareness, this year’s campaign focuses on collective action, widening its circle of influence to give everyone a role in driving early screening. By expanding beyond women, HOMESOY aims to empower partners, families, friends and communities to actively help women take that crucial first step.
At HOMESOY, we believe in supporting women’s health and well-being at every stage of life. Breast health is an important part of that commitment, and we believe no woman should have to navigate the journey alone.
Over the years, the campaign has grown beyond raising awareness to become a community-led movement—one that encourages families, friends and communities to play an active role in supporting the women around them. By standing together, we hope to empower more women to prioritise their breast health with confidence, support and without fear. – Ms Chang Wan Ping, Marketing Director of Ace Canning Corporation Sdn Bhd.
Uniting Support Networks: From Families to Hospitals
To capture this shift toward collective responsibility, HOMESOY is launching a social experiment video highlighting the everyday barriers women face when considering screening and showing how proactive encouragement from loved ones can inspire action.
As husbands, brothers, sons and partners, men have a key role to play as allies. Whether it’s driving a loved one to her mammogram appointment, offering reassurance, or encouraging open health conversations at home, allies help bridge the gap between awareness and action. – Mr Mohamad Faiz bin Bahruddin, 36, husband of a breast cancer survivor.
To turn awareness into tangible support across Malaysia, HOMESOY is pledging financial support to both the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) for nationwide screening programmes and Cancer Research Malaysia (CRMY) to fund research tailored to Malaysian women.
Additionally, HOMESOY is partnering with NCSM and over 40 medical centres nationwide, including Sunway Medical Centre, Subang Jaya Medical Centre, Prince Court Medical Centre, and participating KPJ and Columbia Asia hospitals.
Women undergoing breast cancer screening at participating locations will receive a complimentary pack of HOMESOY 3.0 Soya Milk, worth a total of RM100,000.
Understanding the Urgency of Early Detection
Accounting for over 30% of all female cancer diagnoses in Malaysia, breast cancer affects 1 in 20 women in their lifetime, according to WHO GLOBOCAN 2022.
While early detection yields survival rates close to 90%, the Malaysian National Cancer Registry Report highlights that nearly 50% of local cases are still diagnosed late at Stage III or IV—with Stage IV survival dropping to 23%.
The National Health and Morbidity Survey also reveals that 75% of women above the age of 40 have never had a mammogram in their lifetime, making closing the screening gap more urgent than ever.
Early detection remains our most effective tool against breast cancer. Regular screening allows us to identify changes long before symptoms appear, when treatment is most effective and outcomes are best.
A mammogram remains the gold standard because it can detect tiny abnormalities that cannot yet be felt. Ultrasound is also an important tool, particularly for younger women with dense breast tissue.
Because the most appropriate screening depends on age, breast density, and risk factors, consulting a healthcare professional is essential. – Dr Kiran Kaur d/o Amer Singh, General Surgeon with special interest in breast surgery from Columbia Asia Hospital Klang.
Breaking Stigmas Through Education and Nutrition
The campaign event featured a live demonstration using the “Know Your Lemons” tactile kit.
Using a 12-lemon case visual model, the tool teaches women to recognise subtle physical indicators beyond standard lumps, such as skin dimpling, nipple changes or textural shifts.
Breast health goes far beyond looking for a traditional lump. Using relatable tools like ‘Know Your Lemons’ to teach women what subtle changes look and feel like, builds true body awareness—giving women the confidence to speak to a doctor the moment something feels different. – Ms Fatin Aina binti Zulkhairi Amin, Science Communicator at Cancer Research Malaysia.
Beyond encouraging early screening, the campaign also addresses common misconceptions surrounding soya consumption and emphasises its nutritional and health benefits.
Soya does not cause breast cancer; in fact, current science shows higher consumption of soya food may even offer a protective effect against it. While soya contains natural plant compounds called isoflavones, which are plant-based estrogens, these do not turn into human estrogen in the body. Choosing high-quality fortified soya milk is wonderful for your daily nutrition, where more soya protein means more isoflavones. – Ms Soo Sek Yow, Head of Nutrition Unit at Ace Canning Corporation Sdn Bhd.
Formulated to support everyday women’s wellness, HOMESOY 3.0 provides complete protein, dietary fibre, calcium and vitamin D. Naturally low in saturated fat, it supports healthy weight management and overall health across all stages of life.
