Creating Memorable Memories at Home: Anytime Is a Good Time To Celebrate

Just over a year ago, my then 9-year-old middle child had gone through a traumatising bicycle accident shortly after learning how to ride. On one fateful day, she somehow lost her balance and fell sideway—the force must have been really hard as she broke her right forearm and the bones punctured her skin. Thankfully no nerves were hurt!

As a result, the doctor had to insert a piece of metal to secure her bones in place, giving the injured site time to heal and fuse. On the day she was discharged, the doctor told us to come back a year later to have the metal plate removed and as a mother, that had bothered me for the entire period. My heart broke knowing my little girl must go in and get her arm cranked open again.

The wheel of time continued to roll, and the day has come for the metal plate removal surgery. The surgery went well and when she was rolled out from the OT, we could finally visualise what was fixed in her arm the last one year—a solid piece of metal and 4 screws! Ouch

Yet, not a single tear or whine from this brave girly girl! Surely this calls for a celebration, right?! Celebrate her turning a double-digit age, celebrate the successful surgery, and most importantly, celebrate her inspiring courage!

But hey, it’s the pandemic! Nowhere feels safe enough to risk taking the kids out at this point. So what is a parent to do? Call it a coincidence or divine intervention—I had stumbled across information on Mcdonald’s Parties@Home! I immediately tap-opened my McDelivery app, picked the package, added it to cart, checked out, and eagerly waited for the party magic to unfold. Such a simple and easy process! On the selected day, delivery came quick and everything was in order.

When the clock struck my selected party time, our great party decorations and my kids’ favourite food from McDonald’s arrived in a big red box. There was a lot going on in that box!

And that’s not all, we also got a FREE Big Mac Lunch Box (the aforementioned birthday gift) and Party Accessories, which included name tags, party flaglines, cup holders, party hats, tray mats and activity sheets. My kids and I had an absolute blast with the party accessories. We had everything we needed for an impromptu (or planned) party at home covered in a jiffy!

My kids were thoroughly surprised, to say the least, as we had kept this a surprise for them. We quickly pushed the furniture in the living room to the side and laid out the food on our picnic mat in the centre of the room—this would be the set-up made for many awesome photo-ops with the kids during the party. After devouring the signature McD foods, the kids had fun with the activity sheets provided in the party box! You could also turn this activity-sheet time into a competition to see if Team Daddy or Team Mummy (with their little minions) leads in completing the fun activities. Make it a quality family-bonding activity together!

If I hadn’t actually looked at the McDonald’s Parties@Home menu, I would have never thought about how affordable these packages are! There are 3 packages to choose from, and the Package A which I’ve ordered is only priced at RM100! And for a small family of 5, it was more than enough to fill us up with so much fun and joy! Most importantly, I treasure the memories we were able to make from organising this little home party.

Life during a pandemic can be uncertain and dreary with limited entertainment. So, why not look to the small pleasures in life as a reason to celebrate and create your own kind of fun? Joyful memories can still be made with a little help from everyone’s favourite restaurant. Go ahead, perk up your day and order via McDelivery today; whether you want to celebrate your child or inner child, McDonald’s Parties@Home will deliver all the fun, with none of the hassle!
