Parents, are you looking to buy your dream home for your family? You may want to be on the lookout for the next few months. Young couples who are going to be first-time homeowners may also be interested in this campaign.

As part of the Home Ownership Campaign (HOC) 2019, property developers are teaming up to offer at least a 10% discount on all unsold properties, according to The Malay Mail. The six-month-long campaign will last until June this year. On top of the 10% discount is the stamp duty waive by the government. The stamp duty for homes up to RM1 million will be waived. In addition, the stamp duty waiver will only be valid for purchases made during the HOC, which ends in June.

Housing That Meets People’s Needs

In conjunction with the campaign, the Malaysia Property Expo (MAPEX 2019) will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from Mar 1st to 3rd. Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association (Rehda) Malaysia will be in partnership with the Ministry of Housing and Local Government for this event.

“Working together to ensure the success of the expo speaks of our joint commitment to give the rakyat the best selection of houses to meet their needs,” said Datuk NK Tong, the Chairman of the Rehda-HOC Organising Committee.

It is hoped that this property expo will help to increase sales of nearly RM22.5 billion worth of unsold property. Additionally, the expo will include 180 developers offer up to 22,000 units at discounted rates. This is to overcome the current property overhang in Malaysia. Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin also stated that it is hoped that this expo can help to reduce the gap in price and affordability, and make these houses affordable to the average Malaysian, according to Bloomberg.

Whether you are looking for a new family home or a first time homeowner, be sure to keep an eye out for this event.
