Empowering the Next Generation: Bega and Farmers Union Bring Learning to Life Across 12 Malaysian Schools

When you combine nutrition, movement, and a touch of sustainability, the result is an unforgettable experience.

When you blend nutrition, physical activity, and a touch of sustainability, the result is an unforgettable experience.

This is no ordinary school day!

It’s the Bega and Farmers Union School Outreach Programme co-organised by Motherhood.com.my, where learning about nutrition turns into a full-blown adventure.

Superpowers in Every Snack

Rather than just handing out dairy products, the team brought each item to life by connecting it to a ‘superpower.’

Children learned that their dietary choices can enhance their strength, improve their speed, and boost their overall wellbeing – much like the abilities of superheroes.

During the programme, students had the chance to explore just how fun and flavourful dairy can be!

They tasted Bega Stringers, fun peelable snacks packed with calcium for strong bones and protein for growth, and Bega Cheese Sticks, a simple snack made without artificial colours and full of calcium.

In the second round, they were introduced to Bega Super Slices, a great calcium boost to breakfast sandwiches or toasties.

To support gut health and overall wellness, both batches featured the Farmers Union Greek Style Pouch Yogurt – a convenient twist-open spoon free snack and the creamy Farmers Union Greek Style Kids Yogurt made with Australian milk and real fruit.

Each product became part of the learning experience, not just as a snack, but as a way to show children what their bodies need and how tasty nutrition can be.

The Maze That Made Them Think

Next, students took on the Maze Activity.

Different colour paths led them through a nutrition-themed puzzle.

Each turn introduced them to benefits like Vitamin D and gut health, which they had to ‘collect’ before reaching the end.

The finish line? A mystery snack and the realisation that every meal is a journey packed with nutrients.

When Dance Becomes a Warm-Up for Learning

No one expected a superhero-themed dance session, but that’s exactly how the day began.

With warm-up stretches and a catchy jingle, students were moving, laughing, and getting energised for the activities ahead.

Sustainability Starts Young

In Batch 2 of the programme, Bega introduced students to their Planet Pledge.

Planet Pledge is a commitment to sustainability through reduced water usage and recyclable packaging.

Instead of tossing empty yoghurt cups into the bin, students learned how to repurpose them.

Armed with a real sample of a yoghurt-cup-turned-mini-planter and an at-home activity sheet, they were challenged to rethink waste through the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

Alongside this, they were also introduced to the idea that even snack packaging, like the sturdy plastic used to pack Bega Stringers, can have a second life.

From DIY pencil holders to craft storage, students were encouraged to see potential in everyday packaging – turning what is usually treated as rubbish into resourceful creations.

Quiz Time: Spin the Wheel, Test Your Knowledge

To wrap up the session, it was game show time!

Two teams of five students took to the stage, spinning a colourful nutrition wheel with questions on everything from dairy fun facts to probiotics.

Every right answer earned points, cheers, and eventually, a mystery prize for the winning team.

12 School Campuses, 1,511 Young Minds

The Bega and Farmers Union School Outreach Programme wrapped up with laughter, learning, and over 1,500 beaming smiles.

Spanning 12 campuses across the Klang Valley, 4 schools in 2024 and another 8 in 2025 – the programme reached a total of 1,511 students with a powerful message: healthy habits start young, and they can be exciting too.

Children danced, played, explored sustainability, and unwrapped nutrition-packed goodie bags, all while learning how to eat well and protect the world around them.
