Faizal Tahir’s latest addition to his family was announced recently and we couldn’t be more excited for this singer-songwriter. A few days ago, he shared a latest update regarding his youngest daughter via his Instagram post that is not only inspiring but motivational for parents everywhere. His comments section was flooded with warm wishes from parents and fans alike.

Together with his wife, Faizal now has three sons and four daughters—with Maryam Tahirah being the latest addition. He also revealed that his daughter Maryam is very special to him because she was born with Down syndrome. It is a genetic condition when a person is born with an extra copy of their 21st chromosome—hence its other name, trisomy 21— which can cause physical and mental challenges in the infant.

The latest post ‘shocked’ many of his followers including his fans on Instagram. However, he mentioned that he doesn’t feel burdened at all. On the contrary, he is fully prepared—mentally and physically—to raise Maryam and give her the best to his abilities as a father. Faizal also opened up about the doctor’s early detections and several complications experienced by his wife before the birth of their youngest daughter, Maryam.

“One of the things that happened towards the year 2022 is the birth of my seventh child, Maryam Tahirah. She is a privileged child that God has given me and she is very special to my family and I. The doctor was able to detect some complications that were later confirmed as Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). Meaning, it has a mixture of blood and oxygen which is not good at all. That was also the time I knew that Maryam had to undergo a heart operation,” Faizal shared.

He added, “My family and friends have been so supportive with words of comfort and encouragement.” Faizal, who is also a humanitarian activist, admitted that he did not even hide this matter and often shared his daughter’s conditions to his family members, peers and friends.

He took to social media addressing this matter by recording a four-minute video that even Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza chimed in, “Allahuakbar, what a special and meaningful sharing, Maryam is an adorable heaven-sent.”

Faizal’s latest sharing regarding Maryam’s condition is a major movement in parenting within the entertainment industry. We at Motherhood applaud his openness regarding Maryam’s condition and in helping to raise awareness on Down syndrome.

In conjunction with World Syndrome Day today, Motherhood would like to remind everyone that those born with Down syndrome are also an important part of society. Hence, let’s be sure to make them feel more inclusive at all walks of their lives always.
