Malaysia’s beloved mum and popular actress Fazura admits that losing weight after giving birth to her daughter Nur Fatima Aisya, who turns two this 2nd October, isn’t easy. According to Fazura (born Nur Fazura Sharifuddin), her weight once reached up to 76 kg while she was pregnant with Fatima.
The Best Actress at the 27th Malaysia Film Festival says there is no shortcut to securing her ideal body weight. She practices a healthy lifestyle and sneaks in workouts to lose weight without having to stick to a strict diet.
She told reporters at the launch of her Fazura x Muhayya telekung (a female prayer garment for Muslims) collection, “I work out as much as I can but because I’m so busy, it wasn’t like before. Previously, I exercised three times a week. Now, I only do it once a week and for an hour or two each session. I will be really focused while exercising and as for the rest? I try to avoid consuming heavy meals after 6 p.m.”
So, what does Fazura’s current version of healthy look like? She explains, “I drink plain water with a slice of lemon and oats in the morning. That’s enough to keep me full until noon. For lunch, I will consume a heavy meal that includes rice and some side dishes. Dinner is taken before 6 p.m. and if I’m feeling hungry after that time, I will only eat fruits.
When I was pregnant with Fatima, I listened to plenty of advice from others who told me to consume anything I craved so that I will have a cute and healthy baby. I drank Milo ais tabur almost every day during that period. As a result, my weight rose to 76 kg at the time. It lowered to 65 kg after giving birth, and it is now 54 kg. Weight changes amongst women after childbearing may vary woman to woman.”
While Fazura doesn’t leave much to chance in terms of her diet and daily routine, she now prioritises raising her daughter together with her husband, Fattah Amin. At the same time, she is focused on promoting her latest project, Fazura x Muhayya telekung collection—an exclusive collaboration with Datuk Professor Dr. Che Muhaya Haji Mohamad.
“Alhamdullillah, my wish has finally been fulfilled—to collaborate with a person I love, Bonda Muhaya, on this collection. The line features two collections, Rindu Ramadan and Sayang Syawal consisting of magnificent and pretty colours to commemorate the upcoming festive season,” added Fazura at the ‘Baraqah Jumaat with Fazura and Bonda Muhaya’ event in Petaling Jaya.
Her latest project is her first foray into producing a telekung line. It comes as a nod in solidarity as the holy month of Ramadan approaches. This shows that Fazura is a hardworking mum, a wife, an actress and a smart businesswoman who is eager to connect with all Malaysian mummies in every way she can. We certainly can’t wait to see what she does next!
