First Dose COVID-19 Vaccination To End This Friday in Perak

Registration for first dose COVID-19 vaccination in the Perak state will remain open only until this coming Friday (Oct 8). Perak Menteri Besar, Saarani Mohamad urges parents and guardians to ensure their children have indeed registered and secured their appointments.

The second dose vaccination will continue on from the 10th of October, until all adolescents in the state, ages 12 to 17, are fully vaccinated.

“We can confidently say that we are not safe until others have completed their vaccination.” — Perak Mentari Besar, Saarani Mohamad.

Having taken your vaccination may save you from fatal symptoms. However, your children will remain vulnerable unless they complete their vaccination. Especially if you have loved ones under the same roof. So, stay vigilant and make sure you have all secured your vaccination appointments.

He quoted currently 126,211 students between ages 12 to 17 have registered for vaccination. Amongst these students, a total of 115, 617 (91.6%) have received their first dose of vaccination.

Furthermore, a total of 61,853 students aged 17 to 18 years old have registered for their vaccination. Out of those, 59,641 (92.67%) have received their vaccine.

On the other note, out of the 64, 358 registered 12 to 15-year-olds, a total of 59,641 (92.67%) have been vaccinated.

The Menteri Besar also announced as many as 41 vaccination centres are now catering to adolescents. These centres include schools, vocational colleges, and public vaccination centres within the 12 districts in Perak.

An important clarification from Saarani included the reassurance that the rumoring fatal side effects of the vaccine on adolescents are simply not true. Instead, authorities have also confirmed the rumours of adolescent death by vaccines are indeed fake news and have zero correlations.

When considering the high vaccination rate of adolescents in the state of Perak, there are no signs of this issue affecting their vaccination process. To this date, no adolescents have been reported to have died or fallen ill from the vaccine.
