The Joy of Print-Based Learning: Reinventing Learning with HP Deskjet Printers

In this modern era, technology has changed the way we teach and learn. We rely heavily on the internet for information and gadgets and screens for tools and communication. A total change from the 90s, where we’d need to get to the library to research on a topic, and borrow our friends’ notes to copy (yes, by hand!), that’s the price to pay if we weren’t paying attention when teacher’s writing down her notes on the blackboard! Come to think of it, the 90s weren’t too long ago!

Winds of Change

Undeniably, technology has become a necessity rather than a luxury; with the help of technology, children are learning and developing way faster than we can say “have you finish your homework?” Having said that, technology can only go so far without proper parental guidance; these days, parents recognize the importance of being present every step of the way as their children grow and are willing to invest time and effort in bringing out their children’s best.

Ready or not, we are now living in the Experience Age, where children, parents, and educators are adapting to an era defined by the need for an experience that inspires creativity, spark collaboration, and connect people. Thankfully, we do not need to take on this challenge alone as more and more technology leaders are stepping up to partner with parents by offering affordable and accessible tools to help our children shine. One such leader is HP Malaysia, who aims to #reinventlearning with the help of modern-day technology.

Multi-Sensory Learning Experience

While we all agree that online learning is the future, where anyone of any age can learn any subject with just a tap of the finger, we mustn’t overlook the magic of sensory play either, especially for younger children aged between 5-12 years old.

Do you know that the ages of 5-12 is the most crucial stage to develop a child’s creativity and learning skills? This is the time when children look at the world with the eyes of an explorer and they would fully utilise their five senses to figure out their surroundings.

Sensory play helps to build nerve connections in the brain, encourages the development of motor skills and problem-solving skills, and supports language development. This explains the need for print-based education where parents are able to offer physical learning tools and materials using technology and walk through the learning process alongside their children as they absorb the experience like a sponge, helping them to develop crucial life skills.

Explore & Shine

Over the long weekend holiday, we decided to slow things down and take some time to bond with the kids by folding paper planes. Yup, you read it right! Folding paper planes! But do you know what makes a paper plane fly effortlessly?

Our soon-to-be 5-year-old has been crazy about paper planes; unfortunately, we haven’t been able to fold one that actually flies smoothly! So while scrolling through the HP Malaysia’s Little Makers (Family Edition) website, I was thrilled to find one of the 8 challenges available was the “Paper Plane Physics”. With simple instructions and explanations, we finally learned the science behind flying a paper plane and the different forces that get a paper plane to fly and land. Needless to say, we now have a very happy little boy who has been exhausting our supply of rough papers to make that “perfect” paper plane since we started!
