This tried and tested method is a favourite amongst crafters. Batik is essentially a textile made by hands where artisans use wax to create a design and then dye the cloth, which resists the vegetable dyes.
This wax-resist fabric dyeing technique originates from Indonesia.
Traditional batik is made by using wax but in this easy DIY kid-friendly project, kids substitute hot wax for Elmer’s blue glue and unleash their creativity by choosing images that represent themselves, and colourful paints that reflect their personalities.
