How Kids Can Show Their Appreciation and Gratitude This Teachers’ Day

Thank you teachers note

Teachers are one of the most important professions in the world, and they also have a significant impact on the lives of our children. They devote significant time and energy to guiding and supporting our growing kids.

Some teachers even go above and beyond what is required of them during the school day. They take the initiative to coach, counsel, mentor, train, and advocate for students, helping to shape the children for the better.

Remember when schools were forced to close due to COVID? Despite the pandemic challenges, educators from all schools and institutions had to think outside the box and alter their usual plans and routines to connect with students virtually. That’s how much they care about students not missing out on learning.

Being a teacher is no easy task, and the meaningful things they do all year deserves to be recognised. That is why we have an extra special day dedicated to honouring all educators—May 16th.

This is an opportunity for your kids to express their gratitude and appreciation for their teachers. Here are some things your kids can do to show how much they appreciate their teachers’ hard work and kindness, as well as their teachers’ efforts in educating them.

Plan a Luncheon Gathering

Get together with other parents to plan a luncheon to honour the teachers in your children’s class. You can do this as a potluck at school, a picnic in the park or parents can chip in to take the teachers out to eat. Make sure to notify the teachers in advance of the gathering plan so that they can make themselves available.

DIY Teachers’ Day Crafts

There are numerous crafts that your children can make to express their gratitude. They can make a ‘Happy Teacher’s Day’ frame, bookmark, wish card, origami, scrapbook, pencil cup, and many other things themselves. The possibilities are limitless. All your children will need are some coloured papers, paints, markers, and art decorations.

‘Thank You, Teacher’ Wish Recordings

If you have kids who aren’t camera shy, this is the best one yet. Record your child wishing their teachers a ‘Happy Teachers’ Day’ and thanking them for everything they’ve done. You could also have your kids sing a song or act out a sketch written especially for the teachers.

Show Love With a Delightful Bouquet

You’re probably aware of how popular flower and chocolate bouquets are for any occasion. You can either buy them ready-made or have your children make some on their own. Even better, combine both flowers and chocolates in one bouquet and include a thank-you card!

Assemble a Fruit Basket

Fruit baskets make wonderful gifts. You can give fresh fruits, dried fruits, or a combination of both in a single basket. Make sure to get a variety of fruits in a variety of colours so that the basket stands out. No basket? No problem! Your kids could easily use a box instead.

Gift Plant in a Unique Container

This option is ideal if your children’s teachers are fond of nature and greenery. As a gift, get some indoor plants and place them in a unique container. Cactus succulents, lucky bamboo plants, bird’s nest fern, and asparagus fern are some of the best plants that are easy to care for. Your kids can also choose mini flowers in bright colours for this.

Make Homemade Treats for Teachers

Teachers would love to receive homemade treats, especially if they were prepared by their students. Encourage your children to bake brownies, cookies, or even cakes for their teachers. Then, let your children decorate those goods with special teacher or school related decorations, and don’t forget to write a ‘Thank You’ note on them.

School Supplies Gift Set

There are times when teachers will spend their own money to prepare school supplies for their students. Allow your children to choose which stationery items to purchase for their teachers, such as new markers, pencils, pens, stickers, tissues, paper, and anything else they may require for class or office use. Their teachers will be grateful.

Personalised Tote Bags

Personalised tote bags are still in style right now. You can order one at a reasonable price, and there are numerous colours and fonts to choose from. Involve your children in the ordering process and allow them to select which would look best for their teachers. Tote bags are great for teachers to store their belongings in, and a personalised one will make it even more special.

A Simple ‘Thank You’ Note

For their teachers, your children can write a handwritten message or draw a picture with special details. Find out what your child enjoys the most about the class so that they can write down why their teachers are the best and what they are grateful for having those teachers.

Teachers Are Important Individuals

These are just a few ways for your children to express their appreciation for their educators. It doesn’t matter if it’s a note, flowers, a gift, or any other kind of token of gratitude; showing children that they should appreciate their teachers is extremely important.

We at Motherhood would like to take this opportunity to wish all of the amazing educators out there a Happy Teachers’ Day this Monday. Thank you so much for all your hard work and long-term dedication!
