A Father’s Retrospective: Our Family Adventure at LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort

Legoland Malaysia

In a father’s heart, nothing compares to the joy and excitement in his children’s eyes as they embark on a new adventure.

As a father of two—a lively 7-year-old boy with a voracious appetite for the creation and a 4-year-old girl whose imagination knows no bounds—our family trip to LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort was nothing short of magical.

Our visit was perfectly timed with the arrival of the newest LEGO® Friends, a collection created to celebrate the beautiful and diverse world of friendship from the 22nd of February to the 9th of April, 2023.

The Journey to LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort

Our journey began in the historical city of Melaka, a place rich in heritage and culture, which further amplified our excitement for the upcoming adventure.

The drive was scenic and comfortable, taking us approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes.

As any parent knows, travelling with children can be a unique experience, full of unexpected pit stops and snack breaks.

We took frequent breaks at the Rest & Relax (R&R) areas along the way, allowing the kids to stretch their legs, refuel, and eagerly discuss the LEGO® creations they hoped to build.

The Grand Arrival and Parking Experience

Upon reaching LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort, we were welcomed by the sight of larger-than-life LEGO® structures—a sight that prompted gasps of wonder from the backseat.

The kids were on the edge of their seats, their eyes wide with awe, their fingers pointing at the bright, colourful figures welcoming us to our weekend home.

Navigating to the hotel’s underground car park was a breeze. The parking was complimentary for hotel guests, a small but thoughtful detail that did not go unnoticed.

I found that parking at L2 was ideal due to its proximity to the lift and the theme park entrance, making our numerous trips back and forth from the car much easier.

Our Home Away from Home: Staying at LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort

The room we were given at the resort was spacious and thoughtfully designed, a haven for children and adults.

The kids had a double-decker bed, a small detail that brought them immense joy.

For us parents, a plush king-sized bed awaited, promising a comfortable night’s sleep after a long day of exploration and adventure.

The room’s interactive features were an instant hit with the children. A treasure box, hidden away in the corner, piqued their curiosity.

They had to solve a puzzle to unlock it, and their determination was rewarded with a pack of LEGO® toys, a surprise that sparked joy and excitement.

The hotel lobby was another treasure trove of excitement. Massive LEGO® ponds filled with LEGO® pieces were spread out across the area.

Like little architects, my children dived headfirst into the world of creation, spending hours building, laughing, and making unforgettable memories.

Immersing in the World of LEGO®: Bricks Foam and LEGO® Friends Party

The Bricks Foam section was a paradise for my youngest. Surrounded by a sea of mega LEGO® blocks, she was a pint-sized architect in her own right.

She built tall towers and miniature homes, each block placed with precision and care. Watching her immersed in her world of creation was a joy.

Meanwhile, my son discovered the LEGO® Friends Party. Each LEGO® Friend introduced him to unique activities that further fuelled his creativity.

From helping Nova in the Speed Building Challenge to assisting Autumn in creating cuddly LEGO® animals.

The Magic of LEGO®: Exploring the Park

Starting in ‘The Beginning’, our imaginative journey began with a cheerful ride on the LEGOLAND Express.

We were warmly welcomed by the stunning sights and sounds of the park. My 6-year-old son couldn’t resist pointing at every intriguing detail.

Our excitement amplified as we ventured into the ‘LEGO Technic’ land. My wife and I watched the children’s eyes light up at ‘Aquazone Wave Racers’ and ‘Technic Twister’.

Even our little 3-year-old daughter squealed with pure delight.

Next, we stepped into ‘LEGO City’, causing my son’s exuberant shouts to echo throughout the park.

As a family, we had fun at ‘Boating School’ and ‘Rescue Academy’, where the kids learned teamwork while enjoying themselves. My wife even managed to get our daughter’s first driving experience documented at the ‘Driving School’.

Feeding the kids’ curiosity, we explored ‘LEGO Kingdoms’, where we rode on the ‘Dragon’s Apprentice’.

We delved into medieval times and enjoyed a harmless joust on the ‘Royal Joust’, a joyride that had my daughter giggling.

‘Miniland’, the miniature city built from 30 million LEGO bricks, left us awe-struck.

The intricate details of the architectural marvels, from the Petronas Twin Towers to the Taj Mahal, were astounding.

I could tell my 6-year-old was intrigued, and my wife was as amazed as the kids.

The ‘Imagination’ land sparked creativity with the ‘LEGO MINDSTORMS’ and ‘Duplo Playtown’.

Here, my son got a different taste of fun developing robots and our daughter had a lovely time interacting with other toddlers.

Our adrenaline release continued in the ‘Land of Adventure’. As brave adventurers, we journeyed in the Lost Kingdom Adventure where my son felt like Indiana Jones.

The ‘Dino Island’ ride also caught the kids’ attention, with its giant LEGO dinosaurs.

Finally, we arrived at ‘LEGO NINJAGO World’. The “LEGO NINJAGO The Ride” was an immersive experience where my wife and son got to live the life of a ninja using gesture-responsive technology.

My daughter and I enjoyed watching them advance through the levels.

All in all, our visit to LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort was an exhilarating experience—a fast-paced whirl through lands of unending creativity and limitless fun.

From riding dragons, and experiencing a wave race to being part of a rescue mission, the journey was a delightful delight for both the kids and us as well.

A Peek into the Underwater World: SEA LIFE Malaysia

We also visited SEA LIFE Malaysia, a LEGO®-themed aquarium that opened up a world of aquatic creatures.

Each tank was a window into the fascinating underwater world, from colourful fishes to majestic sharks.

The children were enthralled, their faces pressed against the glass as they pointed out each new creature they spotted.

LEGO® Shopping Experience

No visit to LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort would be complete without a shopping spree.

The LEGO® stores within the park were filled with a wide range of LEGO® sets and merchandise.

The children picked out their favourite sets, their eyes shining with anticipation at the thought of building them at home.

Conclusion

Our trip to LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort was an unforgettable adventure filled with joy, excitement, and countless magical moments.

As we returned home, the tired but happy children chattered non-stop about their favourite parts of the trip.

And as a father, I couldn’t help but smile, knowing that we had created memories that would last a lifetime.

Looking back, I recommend that prospective visitors find a map of the park before their visit, preferably online, and have it readily accessible on their phones.

The park is large, and having a map would help plan the day and ensure no attractions are missed.

Despite some rides and attractions primarily targeting children, LEGOLAND® Malaysia

Resort was an absolute delight for us adults, making it a perfect destination for a family vacation.

To all the parents out there, if you’re looking for a place where your children can explore, learn, and have a fantastic time, LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort should be at the top of your list.

For my family, it was not just a trip—it was an adventure that allowed us to grow closer, create beautiful memories, and, most importantly, have incredible fun.

I can confidently say that we’ll be returning for more LEGO®-filled adventures.
