A young autistic boy was reported missing on 5 December 2023.
Sadly, he was found dead the next day next to a small river near his home at Idaman Apartment, Damansara.
Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, six years old, was still wearing his school uniform when he was discovered by a search and rescue team member.
The news of his disappearance had gone viral on social media just a few hours before, with thousands of netizens sharing and re-sharing the post.
No one expected him to be found so soon, nor in such a tragic circumstance.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid reported that the grim discovery was made around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, 6 December 2023, following extensive search and rescue efforts conducted by the police and relevant agencies since Tuesday, 5 December 2023.

The victim was found lying near the river, approximately 200 meters from his house at Apartment Idaman.
The distressing incident unfolded when Zayn was last seen at the Idaman Apartment in Damansara Damai on Tuesday.
A report about the missing boy was received by the police at approximately 6:36 p.m. on the same day.
At that time, he was clad in a white collar T-shirt featuring the SK Damansara Damai 2 emblem, along with a black tracksuit and black shoes.
Post-mortem results revealed that Zayn did not in fact drown but died from strangulation. He also sustained other injuries believed to be defensive wounds.
Police said the boy died within 48 hours since his body was found.
The case is now being investigated under Section 302 for murder.
Zayn’s parents have not issued any statements but it is clear that they will require much privacy to deal with their son’s untimely demise.
