Gut Health The Gut Talk Show
Gut health expert Nattome recently hosted The Gut Show.

The event featured expert insights and, in collaboration with UCSI University, unveiled Malaysia’s first clinical study on how fermented soybean supports gut health.

Easily overlooked, the fast pace of our modern life, stress and poor habits are actually very detrimental to our health.

World Health Organization Report

The World Health Organization reports that 1 in 3 people suffer from digestive disorders, with gut diseases ranking 4th in hospitalisation causes in Malaysia as of 2021.

With 70% of the immune system in the gut, maintaining gut health is crucial.

Common issues include bloating, indigestion, and GERD, which affects 9.7% of Malaysians and 13.98% of adults worldwide.

Moreover, GERD rates have also risen significantly over the past 30 years.

Significant Benefits of Fermented Soybean for GERD and Gut Health

At the media event, Assistant Professor Ts Dr Tan Chung Keat explained that GERD is increasingly common and usually treated with medication or surgery for chronic cases.

He highlighted the benefits of natural functional foods like fermented soybean, known for its anti-diabetic, anti-oxidant, anti-cancer, and anti-inflammatory properties.

Nattome’s recent study, in collaboration with UCSI University, examined the effects of fermented soybean on GERD over 12 weeks with 110 participants.

The results showed significant improvements in GERD symptoms, reduced inflammation, and a better quality of life.

Participants experienced up to a 47.6% reduction in heartburn symptoms and a 62.9% reduction in regurgitation symptoms.

The study showed a 13.3% overall improvement in quality of life while 96% of participants reported better gut health.
