In this month of Ramadan, everyone is taking the opportunity to do good deeds. One of the main highlights of doing good deeds is by donating to the less fortunate.

Unfortunately, because we cannot personally visit people during the MCO, we can still reach out to people through a different medium. And in this spirit of selflessness and kindness, here are some online donation sites that you could pledge to this Ramadan.

KKM Established Fund

The funds garnered will be used to buy supplies for hospitals such as medical equipment, medicines, reagent, and other disposable materials for our frontliners.

Free Meals for Frontliners

This program is brought to us by Savor of Life; a platform dedicated to accessible nutrition for its users. They help by providing fresh and healthy food to frontliners that are on duty around Hospital Sungai Buloh and Hospital Kuala Lumpur. 

Each day, (based on donations) 50 lunch and 50 dinner meal sets will be delivered to these two locations, to the doctors, nurses, and medical professionals.

#KitaBantuKita

These funds will be used to help struggling families through implications that have been brought on them by the outbreak. Thus, the focuses are on providing food relief for over 500 families, spearheaded by Priyaa Simmi.

Caremognering Malaysia

Caremongering is a Facebook group established with an emphasis on helping the elderly in any possible way. This group is a plea to younger, more able people to extend their efforts to check on elderly neighbors. You can visit their Facebook page to be a volunteer or to donate.

Rumah Kita

The Rumah Kita group is dedicated to providing essential food items to feed pregnant single mothers throughout the MCO. On their Facebook page, they list out all ingredients that they need for the charity. But they also accept monetary donations through the same bank account.

Projek WAQAF Mercy Malaysia

Mercy Malaysia’s goal is to amass funds sufficient enough to buy 20 respiratory aid machines and monitors. They are determined to supply it to selected government hospitals to use throughout their Intensive Care Units (ICU).

Refuge For The Refugees

This fund is raised to support the livelihood of refugees in Malaysia who have also been similarly affected by the MCO. They are determined to reach out to 500 refugee families. According to their Facebook page, a donation of RM60 would be able to support one family/week.

SESO Malaysia

SESO Malaysia is a volunteering group that volunteers and distribute food supply to the homeless and needy that are suffering. Their goal is to gain support from many sponsors and partners as possible. They want to help the homeless as most of them are left hungry due to the closure of some F&B business and the MCO.

The Lost Food Project

The Lost Food Project is a non-profit organization that focuses on providing the needy with quality surplus food. They help drop off essential food items for other charities, foundations, and beneficiaries.

At the moment, their goal is to collect essential food items (through a drop off at their KL warehouse) and to reach their goal of RM100,000 in monetary donations.

This partnership’s goal is to raise funds for babysitting services. Even though babysitting services have been subsidized up to 75% for all medical frontliners that are on duty, but many of them still need monetary help to aid their living cost as well. This fundraising project is recognized by the Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia.

Malaysia COVID-19 Charity Drive

The Ericsen Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides the frontliners with face masks, COVID-19 test kits, and more ventilators to be used by patients in severe conditions.

FV Covid19 Support Fund

Vivy and husband Fadza, on behalf of Fashion Valet, together with the IMAM Response & Relief Team (IMARET), is trying to raise RM1 million. They will be helping to mobilize volunteers for health facilities, assist hospitalized, and quarantined frontliners, and provide general supplies to hospitals.

These are some of the online donation sites that you can donate to as much as you can afford to. If you are skeptical about the organization, you can call them to get the appropriate information or instructions.

Also, if you are free, you can search for nearby organizations that need volunteers, especially for those people that could not go out of by themselves. Volunteer to buy things that they need. Alternatively, you can simply get the essential groceries or special gifts online at Motherhood.com.my and delivered it to those in need.
