Dear parents, if you have a kid who will turn seven years old next year or the following year, you can now start to register for his primary school intake 2022/2023.
We understand that the school application process can be confusing, especially after we were hit with the pandemic.
Worry not as the process remains the same and this guide will give you a detailed overview regarding the primary school registration (Standard One).
Actually, you have a choice of going to the chosen school directly and let the staff help you with the primary school registration or even better, just do it online.
However, please keep in mind that application through the Online Registration system is for schools in Peninsular Malaysia ONLY.
For Sabah, Sarawak and the Federal Territory of Labuan, primary school registration should be done manually at the chosen school.
Who is Eligible for Primary One in 2022/2023?
- Malaysian children who were born between 2nd January 2015 to 1st January 2016
- Malaysian children who were born between 2nd January 2016 and 1st January 2017
Important Dates: When should I do the Online Registration?
The online portal for the application is now – from 1st March 2021 until 30th April 2021.
Where Can I Do the Online Registration?
As mentioned earlier, only children in Peninsular Malaysia can opt to register their kids for primary school online.
Below is the step-by-step guide on how you can register for your standard one.
How to Register Online?
1. Visit the official page at the Ministry of Education here and click ‘Pengguna Baru’ for new user or simply ‘Daftar Masuk’ with the previous log in details.
2. Fill in the required details. Make sure the details are all correct. And then you will have to return to the first screen to log in with the details that you just created.
3. Once you are logged in, scroll down and click on ‘Tahun 1’ to sign up for your Standard One child.
4. Select ‘Permohonan Baharu’ to start a new application & fill up all the required information and submit it.
5. Verify your registration at the chosen primary school within 14 days of your online registration. Don’t forget to bring along the documents below.
The Documents Required for Verification After Online Registration
You should bring a hard copy of your documents to the school for verification within 14 days. This also has to be done between 1st March to 30th April 2021.
- Child’s birth certificate (both original and copy)
- Parents/guardian’s I.C (both original and copy)
- Your marriage certificate or divorce papers (both original and copy)
- Utility bills (eg. electric, water bills) for verification of residential address
- Sibling’s birth certificate if they are studying in the same school (copy)
- Standard sized envelope and stamp (size of envelopes and price of stamps may vary for different schools)
- Doctor’s health report or OKU card (if applicable)
When or How Can I Check My Application Result?
You will receive a letter in either July or August 2021, stating the school that your child will be attending.
Please keep the letter properly as you need to bring it along on your child’s first day of school.
