‘Among Us’: What It Is

‘Among Us’ was first released in 2018 and rose to fame in 2020.

The game is fast paced and easy to play, making it popular among kids.

It is much like the classic game of mafia with a twist.

This game consists of crewmates and at least one Impostor.

The crewmates job is to complete all the task given and find out who the Impostor is, while the Imposter has to kill all crewmates.

Players need to communicate and work together to figure out who the Impostor is.

How to Play ‘Among Us’ in Real Life

First of all, you’ll need at least four people over five years old to play.

Determine the tasks and the area it’ll be in.

Some ideas for tasks would include:

  • Organising shoes
  • Organising books
  • Complete the puzzle
  • Throw balls into baskets
  • Fold and put away laundry
  • Drink a glass of water

Next, you need to determine where the Emergency Meeting will be held.

Maybe you can have it in the family common room, or the dining room, make sure no other task is situated there.

At the same time, you can determine a way to have the meeting.

For example, just yell ‘Emergency meeting’ and the family will gather at the designated room.

Next, you should set rules for the game.

Original Mom suggests on her site, these rules:

  • Each person selects a character card and should not reveal it to another person
  • Each person selects a task until all the tasks are handed out
  • No talking during the game, unless you call an emergency
  • The impostor can kill using two fingers and poke the crewmate on the side or back
  • The impostor can’t do tasks, but they can pretend

The crewmates win just like the game, if they complete all the tasks or figure out who the Impostor is.

The same is applied to the Impostor, they’ll win if they kill all the crewmates before they finish all their tasks.

Have Fun

Put the devices away and plan the perfect game time for your family.

The tasks you choose to be played in the game can also be very educational and beneficial for your kids.

Having fun with your kids, using something they know and love will make them enjoy it even better.

Don’t act sus, parents, enjoy!
