CONFIRMED | Pre-Schools & Kindergartens in Malaysia Allowed to Reopen Starting 1st July 2020

Good news to all parents, yesterday, Senior Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that the Education Ministry had allowed pre-school facilities and kindergartens to resume operations from July 1 2020.

Back in May, it was announced that all childcare centres (TASKA & TADIKA) are allowed to reopen starting 2nd of June 2020.

In addition to the announcement, he also mentioned that the Education Ministry had tabled the SOP at a special Cabinet meeting on non-health related issues pertaining to the MCO last Monday, 15th of June 2020, as reported by TheStar.

The ministry will detail out the SOP soon, which includes all procedures from the start of the session until the end of the day, as well as during playtime.

“The meeting has accepted and has agreed with the SOPs presented by the Education Ministry. We have also agreed to allow pre-schools and kindergartens to resume operations beginning July 1,” he said.

With all these re-opening of schools and childcare centres, parents are expected to guide your children on the precautionary steps that need to be taken, especially when they are at the centres. The teachers and guardians will assist the children as well, however, it is advisable for parents to guide your child thoroughly.

Here are the Important Things that Children Should Know:

  • Wear Face Mask – Put a face mask on your kids when they are about to get out of the car. It is better to use a kid’s face mask instead of the adult’s since it fits your child’s face properly. Don’t forget to put two to three extra face masks in their bag as well.
  • Wash Hands Frequently – Inform your child to wash their hands with soap frequently, especially before eating and after playing.

  • Hand Sanitiser – You may prepare a bottle of small hand sanitiser in your child’s bag and use it when needed. However, it is not recommended for a child to use hand sanitiser frequently since it may irritate his skin.
  • Avoid Touching Your Face – This is as important as the others. Inform your child to avoid touching his face. If he has to, remind him to wash his hands first.
  • Inform the teacher if he is not feeling well – Tell him to inform the teacher if he is not feeling well. The teachers will record the temperature of the students before they enter the pre-school or kindergartens, however, if your kid is not feeling well at any time of the day, it is best to inform his teacher immediately.

These are some of the precautionary steps you can teach your child before the pre-school re-opens. Keep in mind that despite the lesser restrictions of MCO, we hope that everyone still adhere to the SOPs provided, no matter where you are. We are almost there and together, we can win this!
