The scheduled water disruption has commenced today across Klang Valley districts.
According to Air Selangor, Phase 1 of the Water Treatment Plan (SSP1 WTP) began today in accordance with the 9 a.m. schedule. Even so, however, several districts reported their water supplies cut off as early as 10 p.m. of last night.
The water disruption stems from upgrading and conducting maintenance works for critical assets of the state’s water supply. Authorities shared predictions that the maintenance works are to complete by 11 p.m. tonight in some areas.
Distribution of the water supply across the rest of the districts in Klang Valley occurs in stages, once the supply system stabilises. This begins from 5 p.m., tomorrow (Oct 14), lasting till Saturday (Oct 16), with 9 p.m. being the latest.
Full recovery of the affected areas varies between districts. This is because of reliance on the distance between the consumers’ premises and the water pressure at the distribution system within their districts. The further they are, the longer the duration of water disruption may be.
Klang Valley’s water supply is expected to be fully restored by 9 p.m. on 16 October 2021.
For a list of all the affected areas, visit the Air Selangor website.
Air Selangor will also provide alternative water supply to critical premises like hospitals, funerals, dialysis centres, COVID-19 quarantine centres, as well as Treatment Centre (PRKC) and Vaccination Centres (PPV).
Until then, authorities urge consumers to stay thrifty to preserve their water supply throughout the maintenance and restoration processes. Once fully restored, be sure to let the tap water run until it clears out before using.
