Securing Peace of Mind: Inside Parentcraft’s Premium New Infant Safety & CPR Workshop

Infant Safety & CPR Workshop

Hey, my fellow parents!

Parenthood doesn’t come with a manual, does it? But it certainly comes with those heart-stopping moments where knowing exactly what to do makes all the difference.

While welcoming a newborn is one of the most beautiful milestones in life, shifting from the round-the-clock safety bubble of clinical hospital care to our own living rooms can bring a massive wave of unexpected anxiety.

We find ourselves worrying about infant emergencies, day-to-day newborn safety, and whether we’ll actually spot the signs if our little one is poorly.

While the Internet is packed with endless forums and videos, theoretical knowledge can only take us so far when our parental instincts kick in.

Recognising this vital need, Motherhood.com.my is launching an exclusive new initiative under its trusted Parentcraft series: the Infant Safety & CPR Workshop, organised in proud collaboration with Thomson Hospital Kota Damansara (THKD).

This premium focus class is specially designed to bridge the gap between hospital discharge and home care.

It is completely built around empowering expecting parents and families with newborns, giving us the hands-on, life-saving skills and trusted medical guidance we need directly from certified healthcare professionals – and official ticketing is live right now!

An Intimate, Reassuring Space for Us to Learn Together

Unlike massive seminars where you can easily feel lost in a sea of faces, this brand-new workshop is intentionally kept small.

To ensure every single one of us gets personalised attention and plenty of time to practise with premium medical equipment alongside the instructors, seats are strictly capped at 30 couples.

This small group layout creates a warm, premium setting where you can confidently ask those personal, specific questions that we new mums may often hesitate to bring up in crowded rooms.

Surrounded by THKD’s state-of-the-art facility branding and premium care settings, it is the perfect environment to master the critical skills needed to keep our precious babies safe.

Because let’s be honest, mummies – when it comes to saving a life, watching an online video simply cannot replace the physical muscle memory of practising the technique yourself.

Mastering the Three Core Pillars of Infant Safety

Led step-by-step by THKD’s own certified consultants, midwives, and CPR instructors, the half-day curriculum focuses entirely on practical, evidence-based training grouped into three core pillars:

1. Neonatal Care Surveillance & “Red Flags”

Those first few weeks at home can feel like a guessing game.

The hospital’s experts will walk us through “Understanding Newborns” to help us separate completely normal newborn behaviours from actual emergencies.

We will learn exactly how to check our baby’s vital signs and spot crucial warning signs – including fevers, infant jaundice, severe dehydration, and acute respiratory distress – so we can confidently decide when a situation just needs a quick call to the doctor versus an immediate trip to the emergency room.

2. Safe Sleep & SIDS Prevention

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is one of those heavy, quiet anxieties that keeps so many new parents awake at night.

This pillar cuts through all the conflicting internet noise with clear, evidence-based safe sleep guidelines.

Instructors will physically show us how to set up a safe nursery environment, covering everything from proper swaddling techniques to keeping the room at the healthiest temperature to effectively minimise risks.

3. Hands-On Emergency Response: CPR & Choking

Theory is wonderful, but muscle memory is what saves lives in a crisis.

In this fully interactive practical simulation, every single couple will work closely with real infant mannequins provided by the hospital.

We will get to physically practise step-by-step emergency protocols, infant chest compressions, choking manoeuvres, and highly effective burping positions. If an emergency ever happens at home, we won’t freeze – we will know precisely how to react with clarity and calm.
