Supermom Belinda Chee Shares The Truths About Being A Mother

For this episode of Supermoms, we’ve invited TV host and emcee Belinda Chee to share her experience with motherhood. Belinda Chee was born in Kuching, Sarawak and had always been a high-achiever. During her schooling days, she discovered an interest in sports, specifically swimming, and went on to represent Sarawak and Malaysia in various competitions. When she retired from competitive swimming, she decided to pursue her passion of being a producer.

After graduating from university with her degree, she then got a job as a producer at 8TV. Through a series of events, she ended up discovering her love of being both behind and in front of the camera, which brings us to now, whereby Belinda Chee has become someone who is well-known in the entertainment industry. This mother of two is currently married to her high school sweetheart and has two children, a girl names Danielle, 6 and a boy named Dylan, 1.

Being a mother of two and working in the entertainment industry is no easy feat, but Belinda Chee has managed to take it all in stride, even bringing her children into work with her sometimes. However, the road to motherhood had not been smooth-sailing for her. After the birth of her first child, Belinda suffered from postpartum blues and doubted her ability to become a mother.

However, after learning to loosen the reins and with practice caring for her daughter, she began to regain her confidence and has loved motherhood ever since. When she first had Dani, she even tried her hand at being a stay-at-home mum. However, after eight months, she decided that it was just not for her. Though rewarding, she felt that she needed a life and identity outside of just being a mum. She then decided to go back to working part-time.

Though her job puts her in the public eye a lot, Belinda Chee doesn’t see it as an issue, especially when it comes to her kids. “If you see my Instagram lately, it’s been taken over by my children.” She likes sharing her children with her followers and even involves her children in some of her work. “I don’t have that clear-cut separation… I don’t see any problems with putting my personal life into the public eye.”

When it comes to raising her children, she commented that it takes a village to raise a child. Her whole family and in-laws have been very helpful and supportive. She also has a helper whom the children love. She also stresses the need for her and her husband to have alone time, even taking an annual trip with just the both of them in order to rekindle the flame. She also advises all the mums who are watching and reading this to take care of yourself first, before you can take care of anybody else.
