Thunderstorms and strong winds are predicted to hit Sabah in the coming days. This onset includes its surrounding areas, including Labuan.
Essentially a result from Typhoon Kompasu currently lashing through the northern parts of the Philippines, the thunderstorms brewing in west coast Sabah are to last from wee hours of the night into late mornings.
Fortunately, only the tail of the typhoon will reach Sabah as it courses towards Hainan, China. Even so, however, the downpour and strong winds may be as strong and heavy as they may come.
Director of Sabah Meteorological Department, Amirzudi Hashim, explained this phenomenon causes winds from various direction to collide. Therefore, this leads to heavy cloud formations and storm lines which make up an onslaught of downpours and strong winds.
The weather in Sabah will come to improveĀ once the typhoon continues its course to Hainan.
Until then, Director Amirzudi Hasim urges the Sabahan public to keep track of latest weather updates. Be sure to refrain from any sea-related activities for safety purposes.
