Ways To Raise A Future Leader

Good Role Model

It is part of our responsibility to be a good role model for our kids. They look up to us as to how we look up to our idols. So, we got to show them the best example to foster and nurture them to be a good leader in the future. Let’s not fake around in front of our kids. They see whether we are a workaholic or not. If you can’t tone down your workaholic-ness, at least let them know why you are such workaholic parent. What inspires you to be hardworking? Tell your kids about your life achievements to inspire them to dream big. Encourage them to dream big and to follow their dreams.

Teamwork

Teach them how to work in a team. To be able to be a team player isn’t everyone cups of tea. If your kids can master the art of team player, then they are on the right track. Start giving them a task at home that requires them to work in a team. Let them experience being in a group and how things work as a team. Those experience will nurture the values of sportsmanship and leadership in them. Not everyone able to work in a group. Working in a team requires a lot of tolerance, and not many of us have it.

Learn To Negotiate

In your kids’ mind, negotiation for them is quarrelling. Believe me. Teach them the correct process of negotiation. Great leaders are master at compromising. Compromising is when there’s give and take in the decision that needs consideration. By learning to compromise, your kids will know that won’t always get what they want, but there is a possibility that they can get it in other ways.

When they need to make a decision, don’t decide for them. Let them decide for themselves. Limit the choices they have to choose because they still developing. We don’t want them to get overwhelmed.

Set Goals

A great leader always planned out and have goals, whether it is for short term or the long term. Teach your kids the basic of leadership. You don’t need to teach them all, do it a little at a time. It will surely come in handy for them someday. Make sure to teach them slowly.

The first phase of nurturing them the values of leadership may be hard as we know kids have various moods depend on their day. So, you need to be patient with their behaviour and try your best to nurture the values in them. Who knows your kids might be one of the great future leaders for any organisation or company.
