Ever wondered how your birth month affects your personality, health and even your career? Well, it’s not as far-fetched as you may believe.

And this isn’t mumbo-jumbo, it’s science!

Researchers have found some similar traits that are shared by many December babies. But of course, we haven’t forgotten to thrown in some fun little astrology Easter eggs in there for a bit of harmless fun.

Without further ado, here are some interesting facts about December babies you may not know about.

December Babies are Mild-Tempered

Research has shown that December babies may be less prone to meltdowns and temper tantrums throughout their childhoods.

However, this is mainly the case if you carried out your pregnancy (and gave birth) to a baby in country with four seasons. This is because babies born in colder months tend be more mild-mannered than those born in the warmer months.

But as we know, there are also many Malaysian parents working overseas. So, for any mum-to-be currently based in a colder climate country, this may very well be a reality.

If you are one of those parents, and you’re expecting a child in December, you can also look forward to a gentler, calmer baby.

December Babies are Healthier

A study found that December babies may be blessed in the health department as well.

Some research indicates that babies born in December have the greatest chance of avoiding major illnesses, these include neurological, cardiovascular, respiratory, and reproductive diseases.

Again, just like with the previous point, this has probably a lot to do with seasonal changes and sunlight exposure. Researchers strong believe that the amount of vitamin D and sunlight that expectant mothers get greatly influences the child’s wellbeing.

Getting plenty of sunshine within the first half of your pregnancy can boost your baby’s health. And we Malaysians have no shortage of sunshine.

So, get all that vitamin D while you can mums, especially early on in your pregnancy.

December Babies May Live Longer

This 2011 research showed that many babies born in December can live well past their golden years.

This has probably a lot to do with the previous point as well. After all, health does contribute to longevity.

The longest living December baby was found to be living till the ripe old age of 105. This study on longevity is dependent on other factors like genetics, lifestyle choices and socioeconomic background as well, of course.

But all in all, you can expect your baby to live a long and happy life full of grandchildren and even great-grandchildren.

December Babies Are Likely to be Dentists

Your December baby may have a penchant for pearly whites when they’re older, this study shows.

The 2011 survey was conducted by the Office of National Statistics in the UK to find a correlation between a person’s birth month and their profession. Over 19 different occupations were tested and the results were interesting.

A majority of December babies grew up to be dentists, at least among UK citizens.

So, while this may not necessarily apply to Malaysians, perhaps it’s time someone did some research to see if similar results can be found right here on our own shores.

December Babies May Either Be Too Fun or Too Serious

Granted, astrology isn’t an exact science. But it’s certainly entertaining enough that we occasionally believe it.

For instance, your December baby will be born under one of two zodiac signs: Capricorn (the serious, ambitious, go-getter), or a Sagittarius (the fun-loving, adventurous wild child)—talk about polar opposites!

Capricorns are notorious for being hardworking, relentless, practical and logical.

They are goal-oriented people who enjoy success and of course, material things. Capricorns flourish in fields related to money, science, law and education.

Sagittarius, in contrast, is a lover of freedom, a chameleon to the bone.

They value humour and fun as much as they do philosophy and knowledge. As such, they are more likely to grow up being storytellers, poets, fashion designers, or anything in the creative department.

December Babies May Be Destined for Stardom

Many December babies have lucky stars when it comes to fame and fortune. For instance, a lot of A-list celebs and famous people were born in the month of December.

Popular names that you may or may not have heard of include Lucy Liu, Amanda Seyfried, Vanessa Hudgens, Samuel L. Jackson, Ian Somerhalder, Nicki Minaj, and yes, the Queen of Pop herself, Taylor Swift.

If your child shows incredible talent for acting or music when they’re older, perhaps it’s a good idea to nurture that creative side of them. They may just end up on the silver screen.

December Babies, A Christmas Miracle

Whether you’re planning on having a baby in December or have a December baby on the way, it’s important to love them no matter how they grow up to be.

But if you’re interested in getting a December baby, make sure to mark your ovulation calendar for early March.

Of course, even all this research is no guarantee that they will exhibit exactly the aforementioned traits. The best answer still comes from personal experience.

So, if you’re a parent of a December baby, what say you?
