Expecting mothers in Klang Valley can now add in another hospital to your wishlist – Avisena Women’s and Children’s Specialist Hospital! Recently, Avisena Group has opened its own women and children’s specialist hospital in Shah Alam. With a total of 133 beds and 52 specialist doctors, Avisena is now the largest private women and children specialist hospital in Malaysia.
The hospital was launched by Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Al-Haj Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Al-Haj and was graced by Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin. Also present at the launch was YAB Tuan Amirudin Shari, Menteri Besar of Selangor.
Avisena Women’s and Children’s Specialist Hospital started operating in May 2019. The interior of the hospital is designed like a personalised boutique concept hospital, to create a homey atmosphere for the patients. It comprises of four operating theatres, full-fledge child-friendly Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and High Dependency (HDU).
Avisena Group President & Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Dr Omar Abd Hamid said the hospital has seen an overwhelming response from the public since it started operating. The opening of this new hospital will help to address the shortage of hospital beds for women and children in Selangor.
“Avisena Women’s and Children’s Specialist Hospital has not only been outfitted with the latest medical equipment and technology, it offers specialities in Obstetrics & Gynaecology including subspecialties such as Gynaeoncology, Child & Adolescent Gynaecology, Fetomaternal Medicine and Urogynaecology; a One-stop fertility centre; General Paediatric with subspecialties in cardiology, gastroenterology, ENT, Dermatology. Whilst in Paediatric it offers specialities in Neonatology; Paediatric Surgery with specialities in laparoscopic procedures, orthopaedic and burn management as well as a comprehensive Paediatric Dental service”, he said during the opening of the hospital. It will also offer Plastic and Aesthetic services in the nearest future.

Expecting mothers and children are ensured to feel comfortable all while you are here. As the name goes, the hospital is designed with women and children in mind. It has a special room for the paediatric patient’s mothers called the Anjung Bonda; where mothers can rest can recuperate.

Labor rooms & ‘Kitten Scanner’
The labor rooms at Avisena are also designed with calm, soothing, and homey ambience for expecting mothers. The hospital also prepared a dummy CT-Scan machine called ‘kitten scanner’ aiming to educate and alleviate anxiety for children who have to undergo radiology procedure.

Rooftop playground and playrooms
Avisena Women’s and Children’s Specialist Hospital also has a rooftop playground and playrooms with play therapist at each paediatric ward.

For premium patients and visitors
On the 11th floor, there is a waiting area called ‘Sutera Lounge’ which is accessible for its premium patients and visitors. It has a total of 16 suites and executive rooms that comes with butler service.
Child Development Centre
During the event, Datuk Dr Omar also said that Avisena Women’s and Children’s Specialist Hospital is currently in the final stages of setting up a state of the art Child Development Centre. This centre will be a one stop-centre providing comprehensive interdisciplinary assessment & intervention for children with special needs offering services including Child Development Specialist, Audiologist, Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Clinical Psychologist, Dietitian, Play Therapist, and equipped with a Snoezelen/Sensory Room. It is said to be launched before the end of this year.
Moving forward, Avisena Group also plans to build a 250 bedded hospital in Klang Valley and other states as well, said Datuk Dr Omar.
