Mummy Shares: How I Plan on Making My Baby’s First Christmas Extra Special

Christmas will be especially special for our family this year because we will be celebrating with another family member. It’s my baby’s first Christmas, and I want to make it an occasion that we will all remember and cherish together. I am overjoyed because the holiday season provides so many wonderful opportunities for memorable photos and brand-new traditions.

Although this will be my baby’s first Christmas, she will value all the special memories and customs just as much as the rest of us. Thus, I’m going to share some ideas for making her first Christmas a truly memorable occasion for not only her but for the entire family.

Let’s take a look at what they are:

1. Baby’s Photo by The Tree Is a Must

One of the most memorable aspects of the holiday season is the Christmas tree. So, since it’s already nicely decorated and has all those wrapped gifts underneath, photographing my baby there is a must. It will also look great printed as a photo on next year’s calendar or a mug. The good news is that I can just do it at home and look online for tonnes of creative Christmas photo ideas. All I need now are some photo props, which I can either buy or make myself.

2. Make a Handprint Christmas Ornament

Those tiny hands are simply adorable, and making an ornament out of them will be perfect. I’m making two kinds of ornaments that can go on the Christmas tree or be used to decorate the house. One is to get my baby’s handprints on a ball, and the other is to use a store kit. If you’re stuck for ideas, there are tonnes of awesome handprint ornament ideas on Pinterest. Plus, baby handprint crafts are one of those things that can be done quickly in the first few years, so I’ll take advantage of that.

3. Baby’s Special Christmas Pyjamas

What could be cuter than a baby in PJs? There are so many adorable options, including Christmas tree, elves, candy canes, and even mini-Santa suit pyjamas. To make it more enjoyable for our family, I’m going to purchase a matching family set. On Christmas Eve, we’ll put on our holiday pyjamas and take photos for keepsake memories. If you’re looking for something fun to do with your family, whether you have a baby or not, this is a great option!

4. Get Baby’s First Stocking

A baby’s first Christmas would be incomplete without a Christmas stocking! I’ve already ordered one for my baby that will last her for a few more years. I considered knitting it myself at first, but I don’t have the time. If you have the time and ability to knit, do so because it will add an extra special touch to it. If not, there are plenty of great options in stores. Personalised stockings are also available in a variety of stores and online.

5. Purchase a Baby’s First Christmas Ornament

I’m choosing my baby’s first Christmas ornament for the tree. It’ll be something cute and personalised to commemorate my little angel’s first celebration. If you have older children, it’s also a good idea to start a tradition of getting each child a special ornament each year that represents what they were into or something significant that happened that year.

6. Attend a Tree Lighting Ceremony

Seeing a massive Christmas tree come to life will undoubtedly bring a smile to my baby’s face. In the weeks preceding the holiday, I have noticed multiple places holding neighbourhood tree-lighting celebrations. It will be wonderful to take my baby outside to enjoy the lights. The outing will be worthwhile even if the activities go a little bit past the baby’s bedtime.

7. Decorate My Baby’s Nursery

We’re going to spruce up the baby’s nursery while we’re decorating the living and dining rooms with a Christmas ambiance. There are so many festive items to choose from that I’m still deciding what to get. So far, I’m thinking of getting a tiny tree with sparkly ornaments, a spinning light with stars, and some ceiling wall art. If you want to decorate like me, just make sure any decorations are safely out of the baby’s reach.

8. Read Some Christmas Stories

I always read to my baby, so in the days before Christmas, I’ll choose Holiday season bedtime stories! There are many options available online, whether they are free or must be purchased. Some of the good ones are Twas the Night Before Christmas, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. It’s a wonderful time to bond with the baby and enjoy special stories

9. Find a Special Gift for My Baby

Even though my little one won’t remember what I gave her for Christmas this year, since it’s the holiday season, why not? Without a doubt, she will enjoy playing with her gifts. For my baby’s first Christmas, we are getting her a few unique presents to delight her. It’s enjoyable to visit a toy store and select some toys she can play with right away as well as a few heirloom gifts that my child will treasure as she gets older. Not just the baby, but there should be an ideal present for everyone.

Christmas Is the Best Time of Year for Making Memories

Creating special holiday memories for family members involves more than just giving them gifts. Spend some time this holiday season creating special memories with your baby and your new family by taking lots of photos and engaging in enjoyable activities.

Although we are all aware that babies cannot yet comprehend the true meaning of Christmas, we should still make an effort to make it special for them. They might not remember certain details, but you will. Furthermore, you can save mementos of priceless occasions that your child will cherish as they grow older. It can be exhausting to plan and carry out, but it’s well worth it.
