Bangi is a suburb in the South of Selangor, well known as being the location of the National University of Malaysia or UKM. It is also home to many families, most of them young and well educated. Therefore, the area has many modern eateries including cafes.

The Caravan Café

Cosy and homey are two words that can describe Caravan café. Here at this cafe Bangi, you’ll find welcoming wicker furniture and a locally inspired menu.

Some of their most recommended items include Salted egg buttermilk chicken with rice, The Caravan fried rice, Szechuan beef fried rice and Curry Noodles with cockles. Apart from these main dishes, you can also have sandwiches, pasta and dessert.

Additionally, their drinks menu is impressive too. They have many signature coffee creations, like Pandan Coconut Coffee, Vanilla Mint Coffee and Biscoff Cheesecake Coffee.

Tuah Café

This relaxing and simple cafe’s main attraction has to be their selection of Frappes. In short, their blended drinks come in various flavours, including Shortbread Cheesecake, Black Forest and Berri-Nana Smoothie. Another crowd favourite here is their Caramel Thai Milk tea, served on ice.

In terms of food, you’ll be able to find many Western dishes. However, it is their locally inspired items that people love. Therefore, the best seller here is their Buttermilk Chicken with rice.

Additionally, they have really unique lunch sets available daily from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. too. These include Balado Batang Pinang (beef tenderloin slices with fried sambal) and Pakapow (minced beef with basil leaf) served with rice.

Denali & Pinnacles The Wanderer’s Café

This special Bangi cafe is actually a rooftop eatery that overlooks a peaceful suburban area. It’s particularly beautiful to visit at night when it is lit up with lamps and fairy lights.

Denali and the Pinnacles describes itself as a Boho cafe, and parts of the décor here really do reflect that. There are ethnic printed cushions and rugs strewn together in many cosy corners.

Most of their menu is western themed. Specifically, their sourdough ciabatta sandwiches. Flavours include the Cuban (Turkey ham) ,Po’ Boy (fried shrimp) and Duckie (smoked duck).

Moreover, the mains here are really generously proportioned. For example, there’s the Peruvian Chicken served with special Jalapeno sauce, rice, French fries and grilled vegetables.

KopiTreat

KopiTreat is a modestly sized café that is cheerful and bright. With potted plants and dangling vines, the décor itself is enough to lift any spirits.

Although not very large, you can still expect the café to serve up some of the best coffee in Bangi. For example, drinks here include Hot Hazelnut Macchiato, Iced Sakura Blossom, Biscoff Frappe and Butterfly Lemonade made with Telang flowers.

Furthermore, you can pair your drinks with some light treats. They have daily baked goods like puff pastries, cakes, waffles and muffins, as well as hot pastas like Mac and Cheese, beef Arrabiata and Beef Lasagna.

Le Cyan CoffeeHouse

True to its name, much of the interior of Le Cyan CoffeeHouse is decorated in Cyan, shade between blue and green. With soft sofas and wood panelled floors, this relaxing café Bangi is actually known for its local delights.

For example, the most popular dishes here are their Nasi Biryani, Nasi Dagang, Wantan Mee and Nasi Lemak. There are also pizzas, sandwiches and pastas to choose from. Many also love their Frappe line of drinks, especially their Cappuchino, Mocha, Chocolate and Matcha Frappes.

Furthermore, they pride themselves on their coffee.  Here, they serve French pressed Kopi Kampung with Gula Enau or palm sugar, rather than regular white sugar.
