Expecting Soon? Here’s How a Single Workshop Made These Parents Feel Ready

Ever stood in the baby aisle wondering if you’re missing something important?

Or asked Google a question that made you panic more than it helped?

That’s exactly why Motherhood’s Parentcraft Class exists!

It replaces all that noise with real knowledge, guidance, and support that new parents actually need.

On 26 April 2025, Motherhood and Pantai Hospital Klang joined forces to host a full-day Parentcraft Class.

This antenatal workshop brought together medical experts, parenting lifesavers, and soon-to-be parents eager to learn, ask, and prepare.

The result? A warm, interactive experience packed with expert talks, product tips, and hands-on learning that made first-time parents feel a whole lot more ready.

‘Can I Eat That?’ and Other Pregnancy Nutrition Worries

The session started with Ms Hannah – a registered dietitian with years of experience supporting maternal and child health.

Her session tackled one of the most common pregnancy stressors: nutrition.

But instead of overwhelming participants with complex dos and don’ts, she focused on how to eat well with morning sickness, the best ways to sneak in iron, and what foods support both mum and baby’s development. An absolute lifesaver!

Her practical, localised tips helped take the pressure off, especially for first-time mummies navigating myths and misinformation.

It was the kind of real-world nutrition advice that pairs perfectly with our evolving parenting culture – more curious, more conscious, and definitely more open to learning.

The Umbilical Cord Isn’t Just a String

Next up, CryoCord took the stage to demystify the science behind cord blood preservation.

Their quick yet impactful session, ‘The Wonders of the Umbilical Cord’, introduced parents to the potential benefits of storing their baby’s cord blood and tissues.

The team shared real stories and medical insights, explaining how cord preservation could be a meaningful gift for a child’s future health.

Their approach was clear and reassuring, making a complex topic feel empowering rather than overwhelming.

For many in the room, this was the first time they had heard about cord preservation.

The session sparked curiosity and led many parents straight to the CryoCord booth for a closer look after the talk.

What Exactly Happens in the Delivery Room?

Dr Preetiba Rani, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Pantai Hospital Klang was also present.

She brought refreshing honesty and clarity to a topic most parents are secretly dreading: childbirth.

In her two-part session on ‘The Delivery Process and its Procedures’ and ‘Postnatal Care’, she walked parents through what actually happens from the first contraction to recovery.

She covered everything from epidurals to emergency C-sections, and normalised things many mums fear but rarely say out loud, like perineal tears and breastfeeding struggles in the early days.

The session didn’t just educate; it reassured mummies that they will acquire the knowledge they need for this journey.

‘My Baby Is So Small! How Will I Manage?’

When it comes to newborns, even the tiniest tasks can feel huge.

That’s why the hands-on session by Sr Asiah, Nurse Manager at Pantai Hospital Klang, was a standout moment for many.

She led a practical demonstration on baby hygiene, focusing on cord care and bath time.

These are the two things that make even the most prepared parent second-guess themselves.

Car Seats Aren’t Just Cute, They’re Lifesaving!

One of the most eye-opening sessions came from Mr Hafiz, a certified Child Occupant Safety Instructor (COSI).

He shared an important and often overlooked truth: many car seats in Malaysia are installed incorrectly, putting babies at serious risk.

His session on ‘Car Seat Safety for Newborns’ was both practical and powerful.

Using real examples, he showed common mistakes like loose straps, wrong harness positions, and how easily a poorly installed seat can fail in an emergency.

More importantly, he walked parents through step-by-step fixes they could apply immediately. whether they were first-timers or already had kids.

This message was reinforced by SNSKIDZ, who sponsored a premium car seat for the lucky draw.

Their support helped drive home a crucial point: quality safety gear isn’t optional, it’s essential.

For many attendees, this session was a wake-up call, and a reminder that safety starts the moment baby leaves the hospital.

Breastfeeding in All Its Glory

Later in the day, Sr Asiah returned to the stage for a session many parents were waiting for – breastfeeding basics.

She shared tips on how to latch correctly, maintain a healthy milk supply, and manage common challenges like soreness and low confidence.

Her advice was warm, clear, and easy to understand.

That’s why this session made such an impact.

It offered not just information, but reassurance, reminding mums they’re doing their best, even when it’s tough.

Lunavie products, which were included in the goodie bags, helped bring this advice to life.

From nursing bras to breast care items, they gave mums practical tools they could trust.

Not as a one-size-fits-all solution, but as helpful add-ons in their personal breastfeeding journey.

Why Won’t My Baby Sleep?

In the afternoon, Dr Tay Chee Pin, a General Paediatrician, walked parents through ‘What New Parents Should Know.’

Dr Tay’s session went beyond textbook knowledge: addressing real concerns like infant colic, fevers, sleep regressions, and when to really worry.

His advice was simple: trust your instincts, and don’t be afraid to ask for help.

From Diaper Challenges to Gentle Movement

As the day wrapped up, the energy shifted from questions to action.

Parents dove into our light-hearted Diaper Challenge, a fun test of who could swaddle and change baby fastest, before joining Ms Rachel Chiam Ker Yi, physiotherapist, for a short antenatal exercise session.

It was the perfect reminder that parenting prep isn’t just mental but it’s physical too.

Parentcraft Class: The Support Every New Parent Deserves!

The day wrapped up on a high note, filled with laughter, shared stories, and a cheerful group photo to capture the moment.

Parents proudly received their certificates and picked up goodie bags filled with thoughtful essentials.

Excitement built as the lucky draw began, with everyone hoping to take home a special prize.

SNSKIDZ sponsored a premium baby car seat as one of the top giveaway prizes.

Parents also received beautifully curated gift sets from Motherhood.com.my, Mama Siti, Senss, and Babyshop – a thoughtful treat to end the day on a high note!

But what truly stood out was how parents built confidence throughout the workshop.

With the right support, expert guidance, and a safe space to ask questions, many left feeling more prepared for their parenting journey.

“We had a great experience attending the antenatal class here. The instructors were knowledgeable, patient, and made sure all our questions were answered. The sessions were well-structured and covered everything from pregnancy care to labor, delivery, and newborn care.”

“I especially appreciated the hands-on demonstrations and practical tips, it really helped boost my confidence as a first-time parent.”

Another mum shared:

“I learned a lot about baby care, breastfeeding, and what to expect after delivery. It made me feel more confident and prepared for motherhood. Highly recommended for first-time parents!”
