Vitamins are usually taken in a form of food such as vegetables, meat and fruits. However, as the world’s technology has evolved greatly, vitamins are also made in a form of tablets and pills.

Since then, there has been a great debate between natural and synthetic vitamins with the former better than the other.

Well, there are many reasons why you should take natural vitamins in the form of real food but it is not because of the low amount of vitamins in synthetic vitamins. Here’s the truth.

Both of them have similar bio-availability

When researchers create these synthetics vitamins, they would make sure the bioavailability is the same. So, if you are eating an orange and your friend is taking Vitamin C from a pill supplement, both of you are actually taking the same thing.

Basically, you don’t have to worry if you decide to give your children vitamin supplements that are for kids as a substitute if your children refuse to eat fruits or vegetables.

  • Vegans are advised to take supplements because some vitamins can only be found in meat.
  • Pregnant mothers also need certain nutrients to ensure a healthy pregnancy. For example, expectant mothers who lack iron can lead to anemia.
  • Old people who lack nutrients. Taking natural nutrients means that it will take a longer time for our body to process it. Hence, old people who are in need of fast nutrients will opt for synthetic vitamins.

Before you decide to take synthetic vitamins or suggest it to your parents, you must first make sure that you know and have taken these precautions:

Precautionary Steps Before You Take Synthetic Vitamins

  • Follow doctor’s prescription

Synthetic vitamins are usually prescribed by doctors when you have a certain vitamin deficiency. Hence, if your doctor prescribes you vitamin supplements, remember to always take and follow it accordingly.

Do not overtake it as it could cause complications to your kidney.

  • Some vitamins can affect the medicine that you are taking.

Whenever you are taking supplementary vitamins, make sure that you have already consulted your doctor if you are also taking other drugs.

For example, Vitamin K can reduce the ability of the blood thinner warfarin to prevent blood from clotting.

  • Beware of excessive intake of vitamins.

Although you are already cautious with the intake of your vitamin supplement, you must also never forget that you are also consuming vitamins from the food that you are eating daily such as fruits, cereals, vegetables and bread.

In conclusion, both natural and synthetic vitamins are the same and they have the same functions.

However, natural vitamins can keep our tummy full and if you don’t have any difficulties with your health, I suggest that you take vitamins in the form of real food as it is also not that costly.
