Can you believe that it’s been three weeks since the school holidays began? In just a blink of an eye, the school break is coming to an end and we’ll be returning to our regular school routines.

For some parents, readjusting the timing can be challenging after vacations, letting kids stay up late, and simply getting accustomed to not having to send kids to school.

But, fret not, these quick tricks will help you establish this routine and guarantee a stress-free return to the school year.

Reset Their Sleep Schedule

Yes, you may have been a little more lenient with the kids during the holidays because they don’t have to get up early for school.

However, since school is about to start, inform them that their school bedtime routine has returned. Begin asking them to sleep earlier two or three days before school starts.

Another way to get them to sleep early is to wake them up very early. They will be tired and want to go to bed early after a long day of activity.

Consider Establishing a Morning Routine

Children respond best to routines because they know what is expected of them at different times of the day. Especially in the morning, when getting ready and getting out the door for school will be hectic.

Even better, if you can make morning routine charts for each child. Set a time for the kids to wake up, shower, eat breakfast, and go to school each day.

Make sure to leave enough time between tasks. Most importantly, don’t worry if things don’t go as planned. Routine takes time and practise to master.

Use a Back-to-School Checklist

A back-to-school checklist is always useful, whether at the start of the school year or when returning to school. It keeps everything in order because you don’t forget to get things for your children to go to school.

This includes everything from shopping for school supplies to meal preparation and keeping track of important dates for your children.

This checklist will be extremely useful for parents who are frequently forgetful or who simply want to get things in order.

Create School Organisation Stations

Making a designated area in your home where your kids can leave all of their school supplies will help you keep it organised.

At the same time, it will make it simpler for the kids to locate their belongings during the hectic morning rush.

Create a school bag station so your kids don’t leave their school bags on the floor or the couch unnecessarily.

Furthermore, homework areas will help your children to have a proper place to do their schoolwork.

The Clock System Works Wonders

Place clocks throughout the home to make the time as visible as possible. You can put them in the bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, living rooms, and even hallways.

By doing this and showing how important time is, you can help your children learn how to manage their time and instil the value of punctuality in them.

Giving them a manageable countdown, like, “You have to be down for breakfast by 7:30 a.m.,” is a great way for them to learn.

Preparation of Their Back-to-School Attires

Most schools in Malaysia require students to wear uniforms, while some others may not.

Nonetheless, getting ready for school can easily turn a pleasant morning into a nightmare. Young children may have a particularly difficult time deciding what to wear to school.

You can save yourself the trouble by letting your kids choose their outfits the night before, including their socks and underwear.

In the same way, if your children wear uniforms, be sure that their clothes are prepared the night before. It would be preferable to prepare clothes for the upcoming full school week over the weekend.

Keep Breakfast Simple and Healthy

According to Nemours KidsHealth, kids who eat breakfast eat healthier overall and are more likely to be physically active. So, make sure your kids start the day off right with a nutritious breakfast.

It could be something as simple as oatmeal with berries, scrambled eggs, chocolate pancakes, or a grilled cheese sandwich.

You can also give them vitamins for a daily boost of nutritious goodness.

Simplify Your Back-to-School Routine

Getting back into a routine for school doesn’t have to be stressful. Sometimes all you need to do is simplify any tasks that can be simplified.

You can begin by pre-packing lunches, preparing breakfast the night before, or eliminating any tasks that you can do without.

However, getting most of the things done the day before is one of the best ways to ensure your school run goes smoothly in the mornings.

This way, you won’t be rushing around trying to gather everything.

Make Your Back-to-School More Stress-Free
