‘Skibidi Toilet’ is today’s kids’ newest obsession.

First starting in YouTube, this video series is now on other social media platforms and gaining mass followers.

The YouTube channel now has almost 24M subscribers while their TikTok has over 2M followers.

The channel started posting the series in January.

The series is a collection of a man’s head emerging from a dirty toilet seat singing Biser King’s ‘Dom Dom Yes Yes’.

Currently, there are 90 videos from the series posted on the channel.

Recent videos have shown the toilet man in a futuristic setting with its own story.

Each video easily gains millions of views—in a matter of hours!

The latest video of the series gained 17 million views just a few hours after it was posted.

Where You Can Find Skibidi Toilet

The main platforms they use to post are YouTube and TikTok.

Now, many parents may think that YouTube Kids might be free of Skibidi Toilet.

But unfortunately, that’s not quite true.

Skibidi Toilet references can still be found via YouTube Kids, as seen from the above YouTube Kids screenshot.

Your kids can still be exposed to them, even though YouTube Kids doesn’t show the original videos.

If your child searches for it, results will show on the app.

There are a concerning number of games being developed based on this series.

The most popular game of the video series has over 1 million downloads on Google Play Store.

How to Prevent Exposure for Your Kids

Since the videos are trending, many people are advising parents to pay attention to what their kids are watching.

TikTok user @kidz.ot.center shows a good example why we should stop the Skibidi Toilet phenomena.

In the video, there’s a slip of a kid crouching down as if on the toilet and singing the song.

@kidz.ot.centerSindrom Skibidi Toilet dah berleluasa ! Tolong pantau kandungan media yang anak, adik-adik korang tengok. Kita cegah sebelum terlambat. It’s not just creepy but it can also be dangerous.

The post also shows clips of kids sitting in buckets and trash cans with mainly their heads above, emulating Skibidi Toilet.

The easiest way to do curb this is by setting the parental control.

It can be applied on apps such as TikTok, YouTube Kids or YouTube.

To go a step further, it can also be set from the start—Google Play Store or App Store.

Additionally, you can set screen time limits on the apps they use.

On both TikTok and YouTube, you can turn on the restricted mode (if you haven’t already) to filter out rated mature contents.

For extra precaution on TikTok, you can filter out these contents.

By filtering out the words that relates to the content, those contents won’t be shown on your child’s profile.

To filter out specific keywords, go to your profile page.

Then, click the three dashes on the top right corner and go to ‘Settings and Privacy’.

Next, scroll down to ‘Content preferences’ and go to ‘Filter video keywords’.

Input certain keywords that you want to filter. For e.g., ‘Skibidi Toilet’, and you’re done!

The Most Important Thing Is to Monitor

Even with all these precautions taken, these contents can still be introduced to your child in some way or another.

Perhaps, your child’s friends may start to talk about it.

So, talk to other parents about it and keep monitoring your child and on what they watch.

Gently explain to them so they will understand why these kinds of content are not good for them.

Be careful out there, parents! You’ve got this!
