“Two years was all I needed to know she’s the one I’d like to spend the rest of my life with” - Nik Adruce

One week into being parents, the well-known actor, Nik Adruce, from “Tentang Bulan” (Abu/Bulat) together with his wife, Syafiqah Sofian, share the journey of their pregnancy and labour.

Although the pregnancy was unexpected and a huge surprise to both of them, they took the news as calmly as possible and found the journey altogether a beautiful one.

After being friends for four years, Adruce and Syafiqah decided they wanted to take their friendship further although neither of them was trying to find a partner to spend the rest of their lives with.

Their relationship, similar to their pregnancy, happened by chance and they are eternally grateful for all the surprises life has been giving them.

On the 5th of October 2019, Adruce and Syafiqah, a former litigation criminal lawyer who recently transitioned her legal career into the corporate world, officially tied the knot in celebration of their love.

In 1 year and 6 months, their love bloomed into a beautiful family of three with their beautiful baby daughter, Nik Eleanor Binti Nik Muhammad Farith Adruce.

“A beautiful surprise. A very, very beautiful surprise” – Adruce & Syafiqah

Syafiqah gave birth to Eleanor on the 26th of April 2021 at a private hospital in Damansara after having spent eight hours, all dolled up, in the labour room anticipating her arrival into their world.

When both Adruce and Syafiqah found out that they were pregnant, they panicked due to the financial aspect of things, but this did not stop them from making the best decision for their family.

Unexpectedly, as mentioned by Syafiqah, an abundance of blessings came into their lives since the pregnancy. For an instance, Syafiqah managed to get a new job in the middle of Covid season and while she’s pregnant.

“We agreed to not have kids too soon as we wanted to spend more time together first. That is exactly what we got, Alhamdulillah.” – Adruce & Syafiqah

At first, things may be really tough especially emotionally. For some, it may be tough financially. However, trust me, in some way, God will help you through it. I have always been a person who likes to plan, especially for something as serious as having a baby, but the blessings come in so many ways. Trust the process.

After her inspiring words, Syafiqah continues to share with us her experience during the pregnancy. In the first trimester, Syafiqah mentioned that she wasn’t feeling like herself and all she wanted to do was stay home and be alone.

Her pregnancy news, however, gave her a free pass to avoid any gatherings due to the covid season. In truth, she needed to be alone with her husband so they could focus solely on Syafiqah’s mental and physical state as the news was overwhelming.

Both Adruce and Syafiqah were getting used to the changes and the fact that they were pregnant.

Being cooped up together at home while processing the news, they decided to continue bonding with one another before the baby comes. Their go-to date nights would be a movie and a dish they cooked together.

During the second trimester, Syafiqah started to feel more comfortable meeting her family and friends and was able to socialize more.

At this stage, Syafiqah’s morning sickness had subsided, which gave both Adruce and Syafiqah a huge relief.

“Having seen childbirth and the stuff my wife has gone through, I think the dads need to be pro-active in keeping the welfare of not only the baby but also the mother.” – Adruce

It is undeniable that both Adruce and Syafiqah were shocked and clueless at first, however, their love for each other and the faith they have in each other definitely helped them process the news in a calm manner.

The final trimester was the nesting period for Syafiqah and at this time, both Adruce and Syafiqah started buying everything they needed to be extra prepared for the arrival of their little baby princess, Nik Eleanor.

Eleanor’s parents mentioned that it is important for all parents to be prepared for the worst, but of course, while hoping and praying for the best.

When asked how they got through the pregnancy and labour during Covid season, both of the beautiful parents agreed that their biggest support is Eleanor’s grandparents from both sides. Adruce and Syafiqah mentioned that they would not have been able to do this without the help from their siblings, relatives, and friends.

The amount of love and support they have been receiving is astounding. Send some love along their way by visiting Eleanor’s Instagram page: @feedingeleanor !

Seeing the love radiating from this young and talented couple, Motherhood would like to take this opportunity to congratulate them and wishing them the best of luck in their new adventure!
