Taman Tun Dr. Ismail or TTDI is quite an extensive suburb in Kuala Lumpur, on the border between KL and Selangor.

It is home to several thousands of people, mostly in the middle and upper classes.

A large part of TTDI is filled with landed homes, dotted with commercial areas. These commercial shop lots are where you can find the best TTDI restaurant.

TTDI is a very multicultural neighbourhood and therefore, the food here reflects that.

If you’re looking for  a good spot for the yum yums, start at these places.

Chequers

Chequers is a well-known eatery in TTDI, so much so that people from all over the Klang Valley flock to this TTDI restaurant.

They are best known for their waffles, which are served in both savoury and sweet versions.

Their most popular creation has to be the Chicken and Waffle, in which a generous serving of chicken is stuffed with Turkey ham, fried to perfect crispiness and topped with a cheese sauce. It is served with garlic and scallion waffles as well as fries.

If chicken is not your thing, they also have Little Bo Peep (Grilled lamb chops) and Quack Quack (Smoked duck) with differently flavoured waffles.

Additionally, you’ll also find pastas and mains on their menu.

The sweet waffles here are also a bestseller, with items like Banana Waffles Boat, Melting Moments and Deconstructed Tiramisu.

Vin’s is possibly the hippest and most happening place to hang out at in TTDI on the weekends.

They serve Italian  fusion pasta and pizza, all freshly hand made.

Some of their signature offerings include the Hot Paprika Lamb & Cumin Mint Pizza, Prawn Diavollo pasta and Marlborough Mussel and Tawau prawn pasta.

They’re also vegetarian-friendly and offer many meat-free dishes, like their Basil, Mozzarella and Olive Tapenade pizza, as well as their Basil Pesto with Vegan Crumble pasta.

Don’t miss out on their grilled dishes too, like the Cili Padi Grilled Chicken that promises some sizzling moments.

Vin’s offers wide selection of wines to accompany your meal, as well as a wide selection of cocktails and other liquors.

Thursdvys

At first glance, one might be forgiven for thinking that there’s a typo in the eatery’s name.

However, the deliberate misspelling of Thursdvys helps it stand out.

If anyone asks whether TTDI has a neighborhood café, this is arguably it.

The brunch dishes here are pretty interesting too.

You’ll find items like Spaghetti Tempeh Aglio, Chicken cutlet rice bowl and Chicken Avocado sandwich on offer.

When it comes to dessert, their best seller is their Banoffee Pie, so don’t miss the chance to try it.
