Working as an OB-GYN in Hospital Sungai Buloh, Dr. Yasmin stated the importance of support to ease the journey of breastfeeding.

You need a good support around you.

As mentioned above, she further elaborated her stance on finding lactation counsellors around your area to get their professional help in breastfeeding.

Along with the proliferation of social media, she also suggested getting additional support from Facebook groups.

In Facebook groups where mothers from all over Malaysia or even worldwide are gathered to share their issues, new mothers can easily reach out for help if they face any challenges in breastfeeding.

Simply voice out your doubts in the groups and you will be surprised and touched by how many mothers would share with you their breastfeeding tips in an instant.

You will get to know too how your breast milk can help your children not only when they were babies, but until they are infants or young children.

Tip #2 by Carmen Yong: Have Sufficient Rest

When you have enough rest, you will have sufficient milk supply (Image credit: Canva).

As the founder of Sugirl Dessert, Carmen Yong equally needs to juggle between her career and family.

However, she emphasised the significance of getting yourself enough rest to work your way through breastfeeding.

While some new mothers rely a lot on lactation cookies to increase their milk supply, she confessed that it didn’t help her in her breastfeeding.

On top of this, she didn’t really rely on many products to produce more breast milk. Instead, what she needs is to make sure that she gets sufficient rest every day.

Personally, I need to have sufficient rest. That’s all.

Besides having sufficient rest, you will be able to persist too if you are certain with why you wish to breastfeed your baby.

Tip #3 by Fiqa: Get Yourself A Lacti-Cup

A lacti-cup can help you to collect milk leakage where you’re not breastfeeding (Image credit: Hansens On The Hustle WordPress).

Did you ever find yourself in messy situations while you’re breastfeeding?

For example, while latching your baby on one side of your breast, you realised that another breast leaks out milk droplets.

Worry not, Fiqa equally faced a similar situation and she had solved with a very simple tool.

Dear new mothers, just get yourself a lacti-cup.

If you wonder what is a lacti-cup, it is a soft and flexible silicone that can comfortably mould to your breast. Instead of wasting your milk on your nursing pad, it can help to collect all the breastmilk leaks.

As Fiqa recalled, she stated that the lacti-cup was not available in the market when she had her first child in 2016.

However, when she discovered this product while breastfeeding her second child, she felt the differences.

She mentioned that breastfeeding became a lot easier for her with the lacti-cup.

Once she’s done with latching, the cup was almost full with the breast milk.

Here is how Fiqa finds the lacti-cup in short,

Even though it’s so simple that it’s just a silicone, it helps. I find that [lacti cup] as the best thing for breastfeeding.
