Sunshine KOMUGI GOLD Hojicha Loaf Brings Hojicha to Your Breakfast Table

Sunshine KOMUGI GOLD Hojicha Loaf

As Japanese-inspired flavours continue to find their way into Malaysians’ everyday routines, consumers are increasingly seeking simple ways to enjoy

If you enjoy hojicha, there is now another way to have its roasted flavour beyond a cup of tea.

Sunshine Bakeries has introduced the new Sunshine KOMUGI GOLD Hojicha Loaf, a limited-edition bread launched on 5 August 2026. The latest addition to the KOMUGI GOLD range combines hojicha with a soft loaf, along with ingredients including Japanese wheat flour, chia seeds and dark rye.

Hojicha is a type of Japanese green tea that is roasted at high heat. Unlike other green teas, the roasting process gives hojicha its distinctive roasted aroma and mellow flavour.

Sunshine Bakeries has incorporated the tea into its latest loaf, giving consumers another way to enjoy the familiar hojicha flavour as part of an everyday meal or snack.

What’s in the Sunshine KOMUGI GOLD Hojicha Loaf?

The Hojicha Loaf is made with premium Japanese wheat flour, authentic hojicha, chia seeds and dark rye.

The bread has a soft and fluffy texture, while the hojicha adds a gentle roasted tea aroma and flavour. Chia seeds also provide a little extra texture and crunch throughout the loaf.

The Hojicha Loaf is the third addition to the Sunshine KOMUGI GOLD range, following the brand’s focus on breads made with Japanese-inspired ingredients and flavours.

A Different Way to Enjoy Hojicha

Hojicha is commonly enjoyed as a warm or cold tea, but its mellow roasted flavour also works well with food.

The new loaf can be served as a simple breakfast, an afternoon snack or alongside a cup of tea. It can also be paired with everyday toppings such as spreads, fruit or other breakfast favourites, depending on personal preference.

For those who already enjoy hojicha, the loaf offers a different way to enjoy the flavour.

For those who are less familiar with hojicha, its milder roasted profile may be an approachable introduction to the tea.

The limited-edition Sunshine KOMUGI GOLD Hojicha Loaf is now available at major retailers and convenience stores across Klang Valley, Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Johor Bahru, Malacca, Ipoh, Kuantan, Alor Setar, Kuala Terengganu and Kota Bharu.
