Ingredients
- 500 g squid cleaned
- 1 chicken egg
- 50 g all-purpose flour
- 30 g corn flour
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp white pepper
- 1 tsp fine salt
Instructions
- Mix flour, corn flour, salt and turmeric and pepper in a shallow bowl.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs with some white pepper.
- Coat the squid rings first in the flour mixture, then the egg mixture and then once more in the flour mixture.
- Deep fry under medium high flame until golden brown.
- Serve hot or warm with condiments of your choice.
Tofu Omelette
Spruce up your ordinary egg omelettes by adding some tofu slices. Not only for added texture but extra protein. This recipe adds some extra seasonings and aromatics to make it truly a dish to relished.

- 1 egg tofu
- 3 chicken eggs
- 1/2 red onion
- 2 bird's eye chilies red & green
- 1/2 tsp white pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp margarine
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
Instructions
- Finely dice onions and chilies.
- Slice tofu into circles.
- Beat eggs with chillies, salt, pepper, butter, mayonnaise and the tofu circles.
- Mix just until incorporated being careful not to break up the tofu circles.
- Cook like an omelette until golden brown.
Daging Brokoli
This quick and delicious side dish can be thrown together at the last minute if you have all the ingredients on hand. It's a perfect balance of protein and veggies and pairs well with white rice.

Ingredients
- Thinly sliced meat
- Broccoli (cut into medium-sized pieces)
- 1/2 onion
- 3 cloves garlic
- 5 slices ginger
- 5 tbsp 5 tablespoons of sweet soy sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1/2 tbsp 1/2 tablespoon of oyster sauce
- 1/2 tbsp 1/2 tablespoon of white pepper powder
- Cooking oil
Instructions
- In a bowl, marinade the beef pieces in sweet soy sauce, salty soy sauce, oyster sauce and white pepper. Set aside for now.
- Finely slice the onion, ginger and garlic.
- Sautee in a pan of oil under medium heat until fragrant.
- Add in the marinated beef and allow to cook for several minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add in the broccoli and allow to cook until tender.
- Add as much water as you prefer. Taste for seasoning. Add more salt if desired
- Serve hot or warm.
Murtabak Maggie

Ingredients
- 5 slices of red radish
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 onion
- 1 bird's eye chili
- Brazilian spinach
- Malaysian spinach
- Chinese chives
- 2 eggs
- 1 sausage
- 1 pack of instant noodles (Maggi brand)
- Cooking oil
Instructions
- Boil Maggie noodles with sausage. Drain and set aside.
- Slice sausages into medallions once well cooked.
- Finely slice veggies (including aromatics) and set aside.
- In a bowl crack eggs and add Maggie seasoning and beat until well mixed.
- Add the cooked Maggie noodles along with the sausage medallions, and the veggies you’ve prepared (except onions, garlic and carrots). Stir well.
- Heat some oil in a pan under medium heat.
- Sautee onions, garlic and carrots until fragrant.
- Pour in the egg, noodle, veggies mixture and flatten it out.
- Cook like an omelette until golden brown.
- Serve with garnishes of your choice.
Salmon Masak Kicap
This dish is more like a snack although it can be also served with rice. Salmon filets are deep fried tempura style and dipped in a homemade soy sauce condiment. The perfect, crunchy savoury sweet accompaniment to any family meal.

Ingredients
- Salmon fillet
- 5 tbsp sweet soy sauce
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 cup wheat flour
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp salt
- Capsicum diced
Instructions
- Dab salmon fillet until dry with a kitchen towel. Cut into bite sized pieces.
- In a bowl mix flour, salt and turmeric powder.
- Coat salmon pieces in the flour mixture and fry in about an inch of hot oil until golden brown.
- To make the dipping sauce,, fry the capsicums in oil under medium heat until tender.
- Add in the soy sauce and water and bring to the boil. Season to taste.
- Serve the deep fried salmon separately with the dipping sauce.
Spaghetti Aglio Olio
A classic pasta dish, Aglio Olio takes away half the effort of Italian cuisine by omitting complicated sauces. A barebones dish that has no less of the flavour and taste of a complete family meal.

- 1/2 packet spaghetti
- 15 medium-sized shrimp
- 10 medium-sized squid cut into rings
- 1/2 onion
- 3 cloves garlic
- capsicums green, yellow, red

Instructions
- Dice all veggies and aromatics.
- Boil noodles until El dente, follow directions on the packet. Drain and set aside.
- Sautee squid and prawns until cooked and all moisture has evaporated.
- In a separate pot, heat some oil and sauté garlic, onions, pepper, chili flakes and salt.
- Add in the capsicum and cook until tender.
- Add in the noodles and seafood and stir until well incorporated.
- Serve hot.

This sweet and salty dish is best eaten with white rice. A popular budget meal for those who want to save a few ringgits. It's definitely easy and quick to make, requiring ingredients you probably already have lying around in the kitchen

Instructions
- Finely slice onions and garlic.
- Fry some eggs in a pot of oil and set aside.
- In a separate bowl sauté the garlic and onions until fragrant and translucent.
- Add in the soy sauce and oyster sauce.
- Sautee for a couple more minute before adding in the chilies and some water.
- Add in the fried eggs and you’re done.
