Malaysia will host Disney’s The Lion King Live in Concert for the first time, marking a significant collaboration with Istana Budaya’s National Symphony Orchestra in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026.
Presented by Milestone Production, the spectacular concert will take place on 13 June 2026 at the KLCC Plenary Hall, bringing Disney’s beloved 1994 animated masterpiece to life in a breathtaking film-to-live concert experience.
Earlier this afternoon, a press conference was held at Istana Budaya to officially announce that this world-class production will be performed by the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) Malaysia, under the baton of Resident Conductor Eric Lee—recognised and approved by Disney Concerts for its technical precision, musical excellence and ability to meet international performance standards.
Disney fans in Malaysia will relive the magic of the Pride Lands as the full film appears on the big screen, accompanied by a 72-piece full orchestra performing the iconic score and songs by the Oscar® and Grammy® award-winning team of Hans Zimmer, Elton John and Tim Rice, along with the voice and spirit of The Lion King — South African composer Lebo M. Performed in perfect sync with the film, this creates an immersive cinematic experience like no other.
Eric Lee, Resident Conductor of the NSO, said: “This will bring audiences a completely different experience from listening to a recording—one where they can truly feel the energy and emotion of a live orchestra onstage and experience its full impact, resonance and sound.
