As artificial intelligence reshapes how people learn, work and access information, Kelas Sekejap is betting that the future of education isn’t about replacing classrooms, but extending what happens after the school bell rings.

At its first public debut themed Sembang Sekejap, Kelas Sekejap unveiled its evolution from a conversational English-learning app into a broader AI-powered learning ecosystem spanning schools, workplace learning, educational content and branded learning.

Since launching publicly on 26 January 2026, Kelas Sekejap has grown to more than 15,000 registered learners, with over 6,000 active conversations taking place through its AI tutor and short-form educational content averaging more than 150,000 views across platforms.

Kelas Sekejap was built on a simple observation that most Malaysians don’t struggle because they lack vocabulary or grammar.

More often, they are afraid of getting it wrong. Whether it’s speaking English, asking questions in class or practising a new skill, confidence becomes the biggest barrier to learning.

By giving learners a judgment-free space to practise, receive immediate feedback and keep improving, Kelas Sekejap is designed to complement teachers by extending learning beyond the classroom, while leaving educators to do what they do best in nurturing curiosity, confidence and critical thinking.

I spent almost ten years teaching machines how to learn. What we’re doing now is applying those same advances to help people learn better. The conversation around AI in education is often framed as whether it will replace teachers. We think that’s the wrong question. A great teacher does far more than deliver information. They encourage, challenge and inspire. Technology can’t replace that, but it can extend their reach. We believe that learning doesn’t stop when class ends and every student deserves a place to keep asking questions long after the lesson is over. – Isaac Tan, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Kelas Sekejap, who previously co-founded SUPA, one of Southeast Asia’s largest AI data infrastructure companies before its acquisition by TDCX.

It isn’t that Malaysians don’t know the words. What’s holding many people back is the fear of getting them wrong in front of someone else. he moment you remove that fear, people become more willing to practise, make mistakes and improve. That’s what learning has always been about. We want Kelas Sekejap to become the place where people feel comfortable taking that first step – Shahril Hamdan, Co-founder of Kelas Sekejap and Managing Director, Head of Southeast Asia at Bullhound Capital.

For Khairy Jamaluddin, AI is changing what classrooms should prioritise rather than making them obsolete.

Information has never been more abundant. Today, anyone can ask AI for an answer in seconds. That makes the role of teachers even more important, not less. The classroom has always been about more than memorising facts. It’s where we learn how to think critically, question ideas and form our own perspectives. The future belongs to people who know how to work with knowledge in addition to accessing it. – Khairy Jamaluddin, Co-founder of Kelas Sekejap, who previously served as Minister of Health and Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation.

From English Learning to a Wider AI Ecosystem

That philosophy now extends across Kelas Sekejap’s growing learning ecosystem. The redesigned app expands beyond conversational English into personalised learning around news, careers, money and everyday life, with Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin next on the roadmap.

Bringing AI Learning Into Schools and Workplaces

In schools, Kelas SPM gives Form 1 to Form 5 students AI-powered speaking and listening practice aligned with the national syllabus while helping teachers identify where students need additional support, and is already in use across several schools in Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka.

In workplaces, Kelas Sekejap for Enterprise transforms company knowledge into scalable AI coaching, while the company’s growing content network brings bite-sized learning on language, news, culture, careers and money to the platforms where Malaysians already spend their time.

Alongside its expanding ecosystem, Kelas Sekejap also introduced Branded Learning, a new offering that invites brands to become part of the learning experience rather than interrupt it.

The model gives brands two ways to participate.

The first is by turning brand expertise into learning itself through short-form educational series, AI-powered storytelling and in-app Learn by Talking scenarios that let users practise real-world conversations.

Early collaborations, including Tealive’s Raya campaign, demonstrated how everyday interactions, such as ordering a drink can become engaging language lessons.

Turning Learning Progress Into Rewards

The second is through learning rewards, where users unlock perks and redemptions from Malaysian brands after completing lessons and learning milestones. Instead of rewarding attention, the platform rewards progress and creates an experience where learners gain useful skills while brands become part of the motivation to keep learning.

“The best brands are able to both capture attention and create value.

When people learn something genuinely useful, brands earn trust in a way that is difficult to do with traditional advertising,” added Isaac.

Kelas Sekejap’s founding team includes pre-seed investors Mark Koh, Khailee Ng, Joel Neoh, Bryan Loo, Tengku Fahad Mua’adzam Shah, Hawthorne Capital and First Move, with its seed round led by Tan Sri Nazir Razak.
