Thirty years, one brown beret and a whole lot of Sanrio nostalgia.
Pompompurin is officially turning 30, and the birthday celebration is taking over Sunway Pyramid this October.
From 15 October to 1 November 2026, families can head to the LG2 Blue Concourse for a colourful Sanrio-filled celebration featuring interactive activities, larger-than-life photo spots, Bubble Parties and special Meet & Greets with Pompompurin and friends.
And with different characters making appearances across different weekends, this is one outing you may want to plan ahead for.
Here’s what you and the kids can look forward to.
Start with a Little Doodling
Got a child who never says no to colouring?
At Doodle with Cinnamoroll, little artists can pick their favourite design, colour it in and add their own creative touches before showing off their finished masterpiece.
Then, make your way over to Hello Kitty Basket of Joy, where things get a little more hands-on.
The challenge? Pick up an apple or strawberry and place five pieces of fruit on top of the pie.
Adults can attempt it with giant chopsticks, while giant spoons and forks are recommended for the kids.
Complete the activity, then head to the redemption counter to claim your Special Reward via the Sunway Super App.
There’s a Big & Sweet Cake House for the Little Ones
For younger visitors eager to explore, the Big & Sweet Cake House is part photo spot and part play area!
To enter, make a purchase at the event, then head to the Doodle with Cinnamoroll station to have your receipt verified and collect an entry ticket.
One receipt gives entry to one child, so families with more than one little one will need an additional purchase for each additional entry.
Meet Pompompurin, Hello Kitty and Kuromi
Now, this is where checking the calendar before you leave home pays off.
Meet & Greet sessions will take place across three weekends, with a different Sanrio character taking the spotlight each time.
Pompompurin
17 October & 18 October: 12:30 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Hello Kitty
24 & 25 October: 12:30 p.m., 4 p.m., 6:30 p.m.
Kuromi
31 October & 1 November: 12:30 p.m., 4 p.m., 6:30 p.m.
See a particular character your child absolutely has to meet? Make sure you’re heading over on the right weekend!
Catch a Bubble Party While You’re There
There’s another reason to stick around after the Meet & Greet.
Bubble Parties will be happening on 17, 18, 24, 25, 31 October and 1 November, with sessions scheduled for 1:30 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m..
With both activities happening on the same weekends, families can easily time their visit to catch a character appearance and a Bubble Party in one trip.
Keep an Eye Out for Sanrio Characters Around the Mall
Don’t put your camera away once you’ve finished exploring the main celebration area.
Besides the giant Pompompurin taking centre stage at the main celebration area at LG2 Blue Concourse, there are more familiar Sanrio faces waiting to be spotted around Sunway Pyramid!
Look out for Hello Kitty and Cinnamoroll at the GF Orange Entrance (in front of H&M), and Kuromi at the LG2 Blue Entrance as you make your way around the mall.
For kids, finding all three could easily become a little game of its own, and for parents, another few additions to the camera roll.
Planning to Shop? There Are Rewards Too
If you’re already planning to get some shopping done while the kids enjoy the festivities, there are a couple of campaign rewards worth knowing about.
