In the blink of an eye, I became a single father raising three young boys. During the first year, countless episodes of tears continuously streamed down my cheeks. My wife’s passing was an unexpected fate, but my children losing their mum is the most heartbreaking moment anyone can endure. Do you know hard it is to see their faces and hear them cry because they miss their mother? It feels like hundreds of pieces of glass stabbing right through your heart but there’s nothing you can do about it. After they stopped crying, I would ask them to go to bed and then I let myself cry right after they fell asleep. It's tough. Super duper tough. But I'm somewhat grateful that this passing 'revived' me in many ways. I learned a lot of things, I now know a lot more things and most importantly, I became stronger in raising my children till this date. Sometimes after they fall asleep, I tend to remember the days when they were younger. How fragile they were, how different they were back then, as well as myself. I would have heeded more care and helped out as much as possible. I feel like I didn't help out enough and I wasn't loving enough. Alas, it is too late for me now. The task of raising children needs to be taken seriously. You need some sort of superpowers, you need to be physically strong and most importantly, you need to be mentally strong. Otherwise, you are going to fail. A salute to all mums around the world. Ever since I became a full-time single father, raising them with my own two hands, I now know the reality of it all. Being a mum is a challenging role filled with tiring tasks, both physically and mentally. God definitely created all women with exceptional gifts, powers and abilities. But women are also humans with feelings and limitations. They need help, they need a good rest, they need some ‘me time’, they need a vacation, among other things. I implore to all the children out there, do assist your mothers. And to all the daddies, do help out your wife. Love them wholeheartedly.
