That’s exactly what more than 70 expecting couples discovered at Motherhood.com.my's recent Parentcraft Class, held at Dewan Berjaya, Bukit Kiara Equestrian & Country Resort, in collaboration with ParkCity Medical Centre. This Parentcraft Class marked the first-ever partnership between the two, making it a meaningful milestone built to empower expecting parents with practical knowledge, hands-on skills, and trusted medical guidance. A Warm Welcome into Parenthood The morning began with an ice-breaking session that helped parents settle in, followed by a nutrition talk, “Nutrition for Two: The Essentials to Eating Well During Pregnancy”, by Mr Ng Kar Foo, Unit Head of Dietetics and Food Service. Soon after, Ms Mah Choy Yen, Assistant Director of Nursing, guided participants through Breastfeeding Essentials, simplifying what many mums-to-be often find overwhelming. Her session debunked myths and reassured first-timers with clear, confidence-boosting tips. The day continued with a practical Infant Massage demonstration by Ms Siti Faziratul, Nurse Manager. It was one of the most loved sessions of the day. Parents experienced the soothing techniques up close before moving into insightful sharing from CryoCord on The Wonders of the Umbilical Cord and a vital Baby Car Seat Safety talk by Joie. Learning Through Movement and Connection This Parentcraft Class was extra special, as it encouraged movement, too! Physiotherapist Ms Nik Azreen demonstrated simple, safe exercises to keep pregnant mums active and comfortable throughout the journey, reminding them that pregnancy and wellness go hand in hand. After lunch, the energy stayed high as Dr Khairunnisa, Consultant Paediatrician, led a crucial session on First Aid and Choking, equipping parents with quick, life-saving techniques. Next came Ms Nur Izzati Ayu, Unit Head of the Labour Ward, who taught participants how to Bathe and Swaddle a Newborn, a skill every parent should master! One of the most anticipated sessions of the day was delivered by Dr Jaspal Singh Sachdev, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, who guided couples through “What to Expect in a Birth Plan”. He also answered questions from fathers, including how epidurals work and what to expect during delivery – offering a much-needed reassuring moment for many first-time parents. The learning continued with an insightful “Survival Guide for New Parents” by Dr Salehuddin Shamsudin, Consultant Paediatrician and Neonatologist. Moments that Tugged at the Heart No Parentcraft Workshop is complete without its emotional moments, and this one was no exception. During “A Letter to Your Baby!”, parents were invited to write heartfelt notes to their unborn little ones, capturing their hopes, dreams, and promises. It was a quiet, beautiful pause in the day that left many teary-eyed and smiling. Couples ended the day with the old but gold Diaper Challenge, proving that teamwork really does make the dream work and the diaper stay on right!
