As a partner, are you not a sweet talker? Do not worry. It is fine as long as you are a great listener and know how to talk with your soulmate. A great listener and equally great as a talker is a good combination to have. Photo Credit: Adobe Stock COMMUNICATION IS THE KEY. As cliché as it always has been, it is no doubt that communication is very important to have in a healthy relationship or a marriage that we all want. Communication is known in several aspects, but my favourite concept includes "the successful conveying or sharing of thoughts and feelings". Yes, of course you talk everyday with them but it is always the bare minimum such as asking how their day was or have they eaten yet. Those are all basic common usual talks that we all have done even if we are not in a relationship. Although most couples or spouses will inevitably fall into the everyday conversation topics of work, family and news, couples should still be able to talk more about serious matters and deep subjects even if it is awkward or uncomfortable for them. Here Are 5 Things That You Can Talk About With Your Partner Unsure of what things you can actually talk about with your partner? You should try these topics especially if you are in a long-run relationship with your lover. 1) Where Do You See The Relationship In The Future? Photo Credit: Adobe Stock In most serious relationships, we all want certainty. Who would want to stay if the person we are in love with is unsure about everything including themselves? In 5 years, where do you both see yourselves? Or in 10 years' time? Would you like to have children? Would you like to live in the city or the suburbs? Make sure you and your partner are on the same page about the future of both of you. Over time, our needs, desires and priorities change. Therefore, this kind of conversation should take place frequently just to ensure that you both know where the other person stands on these important issues. 2) The Money Talk Photo Credit: Adobe Stock Ah, good ol’ money talks in which we are all reluctant to talk about until we are all decently financially secure and own more than one property or proper assets to start our life with. No matter how happy and good your relationship is going on, eventually, this is a topic that we cannot run away from. Besides, the conversation should not be hurtful when you both share the money perspectives. And it definitely should not be the cause to end the relationship. In fact, the discussion should encourage you to work together to achieve the objectives that you have each set individually and together. 3) Feelings Photo credit: Pexels When it comes to expressing feelings and thoughts, some people are better than others. If the person you have chosen to share your life with is unable to share their feelings with you, then something is off. Humans are built with feelings and emotions. If we did not acknowledge that, we might as well just be with a robot. Your lover is the one person for whom you should be willing to be vulnerable and let them enter your world of emotions. You need to have the courage to tell them how you feel and why you are unhappy. 4) Health Photo Credit: Adobe Stock What? You have cancer throughout these whole 4 years and you’re going to die in 6 months?! What a nightmare am I right? I bet that you do not want this situation to happen to you in every fibre of your being. I would be so mad and devastated if that situation happens to me. So to avoid this situation, do keep your partner crystal clear if you have any health problems, even if they are relatively minor. No one wants to be taken by surprise by their partner's bad health. If they are severe, a partner will need substantial assistance with health issues and they should be held in the know in case anything unpredictable occurs. 5) Fears and Worries Photo Credit: Adobe Stock Like in most horror movies, the main character’s spouse is always in disbelief and doubtful when their partner sees ghosts or evil spirits in the house and ends up with a very bad ending. It could have been a happy ending if the spouse believed their partner in the first place and moved out from the haunted house like a normal person would do. In this world, there are many scary things. For certain people, being in a relationship can be scary and sometimes, we can also be scared of our own selves too. With your partner, you should still be able to express your worries and concerns. Couples should be able to talk about their past traumas and things that are bothering them. If you both communicate well and always be transparent with each other, then this should not be a problem as your partner will most likely be understanding and supportive towards you in this relationship. But if anxiety or worry comes from nowhere and you kept it to yourself until it became a problem, it might trigger a greater issue than it could have been dealt with early on. Communication is important, but since they are your soulmate and the person who owns your heart, do not forget to give them affections as well.
