You know when your child is too quiet and you immediately know something is up? They don’t want their breakfast. They’re lying on the sofa instead of turning the house upside down. Or halfway through an outing comes the sentence every parent knows can change the rest of the day: “Mummy, my tummy feels weird.” Sometimes it’s constipation. Sometimes diarrhoea. Sometimes they’re gassy and uncomfortable and can’t quite tell you what’s wrong. Whatever it is, tummy troubles have a funny way of becoming the whole family’s problem. Because when your child’s tummy isn’t happy, you notice it everywhere else too, and that’s why looking after a child’s gut is about much more than whether they’re going to the toilet regularly. That idea of allowing a child to explore the world uninterrupted sits at the heart of the new and improved Friso Gold Step 3 & 4, with an upgraded formula focused on supporting children’s digestion and gut immunity. And one of the biggest changes is something parents may not have heard much about before: Milk Lipid Complex, or MLC. So, What Is Milk Lipid Complex? If “Milk Lipid Complex” sounds like another nutrition term you’re now expected to Google, don’t worry. The idea is actually quite straightforward. MLC is a fatty acid structure that supports nutrient absorption, digestion and gut immunity. It is the newest addition to Friso Gold Step 3 & 4, joining ingredients including 2’-FL, probiotics and GOS prebiotic. Together, the formula is designed around something parents already know instinctively: what goes into our children matters, but so does how well their little bodies digest and absorb it. Friso Gold Step 3 & 4 also continues to feature NOVAS Signature Milk, which contains naturally small molecules with a soft structure that makes it easy to digest, as well as LockNutri Technology, a single heat treatment that helps retain over 90% of natural ingredients. With the improved formula, Friso Gold reports up to 6X less tummy issues* with daily consumption, referring to flatulence, diarrhoea and constipation in just a week. Taking the Gut Conversation Further To introduce its new and improved Step 3 & 4, Friso Gold brought the conversation to life with its School of Gut, launched at 1 Utama. The event gave families plenty of opportunities to learn through play and one of the messages shared at the opening was simple. Consultant Paediatrician, Dr Rakhee Yadav reminded parents not to obsess over creating a “perfect gut” for their children. "There’s no need to immediately turn to expensive probiotics or “gut detoxes”, nor should parents unnecessarily eliminate foods in pursuit of better gut health. Even one packet of biscuits isn’t going to “destroy” a child’s microbiome." Instead, she encouraged parents to focus on the foundations: fibre, balanced nutrition, adequate sleep, physical activity and appropriate medical care when needed. Friso Gold’s School of Gut @ 1 Utama The School of Gut takes some of those concepts and turns them into something children can explore for themselves. Across the space, interactive stations introduce the roles of Milk Lipid Complex, NOVAS Milk, 2’-FL, GOS and probiotics through activities designed to make learning about the gut a little more fun. There’s also a tasting area where children can try the new Friso Gold, while parents can take a closer look at the refreshed Step 3 & 4 packs and learn more about what’s new in the formula. Friso Gold’s School of Gut is open at 1 Utama until 13 September 2026, with interactive stations for children, a product tasting area, exclusive promotions and freebies available during the event. Friso Gold School of Gut Date: 9 – 13 September 2026 Time: 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. Venue: Ground Floor Concourse, 1 Utama Old Wing. So parents, if you’re heading to 1 Utama with the kids this week, you could come home with something other than shopping bags. They get to play. You get to learn a little more about what’s happening inside those tiny tummies. And hopefully, there’ll be more room for all the noisy, messy, funny and wonderfully ordinary things they want to do next.
