From “What Should I Eat?” to “How Do I Bathe Baby?”: A Day of Parentcraft at Prince Court Medical Centre

Expectant parents and facilitators gather with practice dolls at the Motherhood.com.my Parentcraft Workshop with Prince Court Medical Centre.

Expecting a baby can turn small questions into big ones. What should I eat? What might labour involve? How do I care for a newborn?

On 26 September 2026, Motherhood.com.my and Prince Court Medical Centre brought many of these topics together. Their full-day Parentcraft Workshop moved from pregnancy to birth, then into caring for baby.

The programme brought together healthcare professionals and specialists. Each session focused on a different part of the journey ahead. For parents-to-be, it offered a chance to explore useful subjects in one place.

“What Should I Eat?” and Other Pregnancy Questions

Food advice can be hard to sort through. Dietitian Ms Batrisyia Aileen Tan opened the programme with Eating Right Through Pregnancy.

Her session put pregnancy nutrition on the day’s agenda. Parents could hear from a dietitian and note questions for their own care team. That can be helpful when conflicting advice starts to feel overwhelming.

Next, CryoCord presented The Wonders of Umbilical Cord. The subject can be unfamiliar to many parents. A dedicated session gave it room within the programme.

After morning tea, the focus returned to pregnancy wellbeing. Forza Pilates Wellness Club led Pregnancy Exercise. Nutrition and movement offered two different ways to think about caring for yourself while expecting.

These sessions also offered parents different points to consider. Each family’s questions and circumstances will be their own. Parents can follow up with their healthcare team about personal advice.

“What Might Labour Involve?”

Birth can bring questions that are difficult to answer through online searches alone. The workshop included two sessions focused on this next chapter.

Consultant anaesthesiologist Dr Wan Aizat led Pain Management. Later, consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Shilpa Nambiar presented From Bump to Baby.

The sessions covered pain management and the journey towards birth. Every pregnancy and birth is different. Parents can take personal questions to their healthcare professionals.

The programme also included a labour room tour during high tea. Seeing a care setting can give parents something specific to ask about. It can also help them learn more about where they will receive care.

“How Do I Care for My Newborn?”

Once baby arrives, everyday care becomes part of the learning curve. The programme covered several subjects parents may want to explore beforehand.

Dr Anna Padmavathy Soosai, a specialist in general paediatrics and neonatology, led Newborn Care. Senior staff nurse and lactation counsellor Ms Rina Aryanti presented The Power of Breastfeeding.

Joie covered Car Seat Safety for Newborns. Senior staff nurse Ms Noor Syuhada led Bath, Bundle & Bond.

Together, these sessions touched on feeding, safety, bathing and bonding. They are practical topics to consider before bringing a newborn home. Parents can also note questions they would like to discuss with their care team.

It can be reassuring to see these topics gathered in one programme. Parents can consider which subjects feel familiar and which need more attention. That list can help guide conversations with their healthcare professionals.

One Day, Many Starting Points

The workshop ran from registration and welcome refreshments through to high tea. The schedule also included morning tea and lunch. Closing activities included feedback, a group photo, lucky draw and goodie bag presentation.

A full-day programme can help parents explore several subjects at once. You don’t have to arrive with every question figured out. Start with what’s on your mind. Then build your knowledge one session at a time.

If you’re expecting, parentcraft classes offer a place to learn about pregnancy, birth and baby care. You can attend with your partner and prepare for the conversations ahead.
